Bra-A-Week: Week 4

Feb 8, 2015 | Bra Makes | 16 comments

Hi All!

Here we are at week 4 of the challenge! And as promised- I’ve branched out again and have something totally different again this week!

I decided to go back to lace this week- but instead of my regular pattern- I thought I would branch out and use a vertical seam with a short wire (super low front) and add some strappy detail!

The cup is made from a rigid purple lace with a black tulle background (Camille lace from BMS) and lined with black 15 denier to make it softer against my skin. I used regular black powernet for the back band, fold over elastic for top band, bottom band and the neckline of the cup, and strap elastic for everything else!

And as you can see I used a few more rings than normal too!

This pattern is actually one that a friend of mine, Sonia, drafted for me in a bra fitting class at BMS- she did a gorgeous job and this bra came together like a breeze! Sonia is so amazing- she should have a blog!

To add some extra fun to this bra I thought I would get a little inspiration from the very strappy bra trend that I’ve been seeing so much of on Pinterest! I love it- it’s such an easy addition, and it instantly makes a regular bra super sexy!

I thought I would continue the strap detailing on the back with the same strap treatment that I did on my fuchsia bra in Week 2 .

Definitely in love with this bra- probably not the best everyday bra- but it is definitely the most dramatic bra that I have in my drawer! I should make panties to go with this bra soon! 🙂

But that’s enough about me!!

——————-

Now onto you’re amazing submissions!!

First we have a pretty polka-dot Watson from Michelle of Michelle’s Creations

She made the longline version of the Watson from Cloth Habit in this lovely black and white polka-dot. She also lined the cups with powernet to give it a little more structure and support.

This looks so comfy! Don’t forget to check out Michelle’s post on her gorgeous bra-make!

Next we have two bras from a very ambitious Ilna

She made both of her bras with the Doline pattern from Marinique Kollege and Langere in South Africa.

This first one she made with refashioned stretch cotton from a dress that was too small- how clever!

She lined it all with a soft white cotton, and used left over elastics from other bras, and re-used sliders and rings from an old sports bra!

Talk about getting resourceful in your bra making! It’s a good thing that bras have such small pieces- perfect for repurposing!

She also had time to make up this pretty and practical flesh tone bra with lace! very nice!

Next we have a very fun bra from Mary Gottelmann!

Mary made this bra with the Anne St. Claire bra Elite pattern, custom fitted to her.

She made it with a sheer leopard print spandex knit from Spandex World.

How fun! I want one!!

Next I have a very winter-cosy set from none other than my mom!!! 😀

Mom made this set from the Amanda Pattern using the striped bamboo knit, pre-formed foam cups and matching findings that I gave her for her birthday!!

She used a lovely picot fold over elastic to finish the top edge of the cup- and did a very great job at matching the stripes on each side! This looks so comfortable! Yay for sewing moms 🙂 I’ve also made her promise to put it up on pattern review!

Next we have three gorgeous bras from the very ambitious Linda of Uplift Custom Bras

Her first bra is a balconette- style bra with Camille lace (the same lace I used for my bra only in red!!) The lace is over a black cut&sew foam lining.

A very gorgeous and sexy bra for Valentine’s Day coming up!

Next is this lovely pink duoplex and soft pink lace bra. The perfect sweetheart valentines look!

And finally a fuchsia show stopper! this gorgeous bra is fuchsia duoplex with a bit of brown and fuchsia zebra trim on the inside of the straps and a coordinating brown bow!

Great fit on all these bras Linda! You definitely covered the Valentine’s spectrum with these!

——————-

Next we have a very pretty bra from Kerri of Lady K’s Wardrobe Unlocked!

This pretty lacy number is a 46G- proving that larger sizes can still be beautiful and dainty! How darling is this!

——————-

Next we have a very luxurious set from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest Unmentionables!

Karin made this lavish and warm Valentine’s set from devoré velvet supported by duoplex. She also added some lovely lace trim to the neckline for some delicate appeal!

I could definitely relate to Karin’s cold Canadian winter  woes in her fantastic post about this set!

Love it!!

Next we have a post from none-other than the mother of the Watson! Amy from Cloth Habit!

Amy made this bra with a self-drafted pattern, and bottoms from her Free Rosy Ladyshorts pattern!

She used this beautifully printed rayon jersey over a cut&sew foam interior. She lined the cradle with sheer tricot, and the back band with stretch mesh; and finished everything off with findings that she dyed to match with Washfast acid dyes.

She did a lovely job, covering a 3 piece foam under layer, with a two piece outer cup! very clever! and I love the finished set- it looks so fun and wearable! Don’t forget to check out Amy and her amazing bra-focused blog!

Next we have another lacy creation from David Pólrolniczak

David made this bra using two coordinating laces, both with a lovely sea-foam colour! He also added extra internal structure for added support- Very pretty!

David is a freelance lingerie designer, label: Bonnet Blue

Next we have a striking little black bra from Jodi of Threads by Jodi

Jodi made this bra from the Classic Pin-Up Girls pattern with a split lower cup. She made it with black duoplex and this gorgeous black and gold lace! Very chic!

——————-

Next we have another beautiful set from my favourite french man, Joël!

Joël made this for his lovely wife with the Shelley pattern from Pin-Up Girls and a modified Betty from Oh lu lu pattern. He used brown satin and black and grey lace! So pretty.

This set is so lovely- a very interesting lace too- I love how he used it on both bra and panties!

And last but not least we have this beautiful Watson set from Ginny!

Ginny made this super awesome Watson bra & panty set with stretch black/grey cheetah print mesh, lined with black stretch mesh on the cups for more coverage and she used black duoplex to stabilize on the cradle. She also raised the waistline on the bottoms by 1″ from the regular pattern.

Then she made a second pair of briefs to match using the Make bra panty pattern . Loving this set- it is so wearable and cool! This is definitely something I could see in my drawer!
