Bra-A-Week: Week 8

Mar 8, 2015 | Bra Makes | 8 comments

Hi All!

Week 8 already! Wow I can’t believe time is going by so fast, I hope your underwear drawers are benefiting as much as mine is! This week I have another beautiful cut&sew foam bra!

This bra highlights a lot of my bra favourites! Cut&sew foam, lace, short wires and, of course, fold over elastic!

I made this bra with fuchsia: cut&sew foam, duoplex for the front frame, powernet for the back, fold over elastic for the top and bottom band, 1/2″ strap elastic with matching hardware. And I paired it with this beautiful grey stretch lace!

This was another self-drafted cup, a three-piece diagonal seam bra with a split lower cup. I also used short wires so it has a low front. As you can see this bra has a wider bridge than the one last week (which is more the natural width of my bridge) so it doesn’t give the  same ‘push-up’ effect- which I think is fine for my everyday bras.

The lace I used was a beautiful 5″ stretch lace, but since it was so narrow I couldn’t cover the whole front frame with it, so instead I made a seam under the cup, and the side of the front frame is all fuchsia, which I thought added some interest anyways.

As you can see the inside is all pretty and fuchsia- I like to finish the top of my cut&sew cups with the matching fold over elastic.

I love how this one came together! I feel like that it has a very clean feel, with the solid line of the fold over elastic on the bottom, and the grey-fuchia combo. 🙂 One day when I find the time, this set is definitely getting undies!

And now on to your beautiful bras!!
—————————

First we have this beautiful bra from Ilna

Ilna made this bra with a beautiful apricot lace lined with white.

She used peach findings on this bra with this cute bow as a finishing touch! 🙂

Next we have this stunning set from  Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest Unmentionables!

This is Karin’s ‘Lavender and Lace’ set. For this cup she used cut and sew foam and covered it with this beautiful lavender silk charmeuse!

Then she trimmed the cup with lace and made a matching pair of lace panties to go with it! Check out her blog post for more info on this set!

Next we have this lovely bra from David

This is his ‘Erin’ bra, made with foam cups covered in silk and finished with lace tulle. He also used silicone on this inside of the band and silk straps! Gorgeous!, and I love the name 😉

David is a freelance lingerie designer, label: Bonnet Blue

Next we have a beautiful spring bra from Amy of Cloth Habit

This is a self-drafted bra that amy made from this beautifully printed scuba knit.

Made the front strap out of the matching fabric, and dyed that back strap and all of the findings a beautiful yellow to match. Love it!

Next we have a pretty bra from Linda of Uplift Custom Bras

This is Linda’s bra of the month, with materials chosen from popular vote on her Facebook page, which is this beautiful blue tulle lace over red! 🙂

Next we have a black and red beauty from Michelle of Michelle’s Creations

Michelle made this from the Sewy Rebecca pattern using red duoplex and red and black stretch lace.

Her favourite thing out this bra is the inside- and I can see why! It’s all beautifully enclosed – very nice! Don’t forget to check out her post on her bra!

Last but not least we have these two showy sets from Kerri of Lady K’s Wardrobe Unlocked

Kerri is still having fun playing with skin tones and size difference with these sets! Both of these sets are very fun fringe- but the one on the left is a 30AAA and the one on the right is a 44G/H!

The under bra layer of stretch mesh gives invisible support underneath while not taking away from the whimsy of the fringe! Very fun!

Another week of bra-inspiration, and incredible talent! you are all so amazing!! 🙂 I don’t know if 11 weeks of this challenge are going to be enough…

All the bras are so gorgeous. Yes, Erin. My lingerie drawer is filling up and I was thinking maybe it was full enough, but after reading your post today, I don't want to quit! Thanks for all the inspiration.

Thanks Michelle! And there is no such thing as a full enough lingerie drawer- if it's too full you just clear another one!
