Sunday Life [30.08.15]: Product Photography, Fabric Shopping & a Day of Rest

Hi All,
Here is a late look over my week 🙂 I’ve had a bit of a weird week. Some ups, some downs, and overall I have to say that I’ve had a bit of a tired week. You know those weeks where you feel like you’re getting behind on everything- and all the things that you’re working on are slower than molasses? That was my week.

So instead of waking up full of energy yesterday, ready to write my Saturday Life- it was one of those mornings where everything was going wrong, and I had bit of a melt-down… And decided that the rest of my day would be much better spent snuggling with my puppy and being away from my computer.

So now that the weekend is almost over, I feel like I’m in a better mood to be reflecting on my week and sharing the best bits with all of you lovelies!

The first part of my week was spent working on product photography- something I never knew could be quite so tricky- and something that has been much harder to do with bra-kits than swimwear kits. Who knew that adding a piece of black or white powernet to the frame would completely throw off the white balance and colour? who knew? *sobs*

And here that behind the scenes ‘magic behind the photos’ you will see on Etsy soon! (I should have a couple kits up tonight, but I’ll be doing a post on them tomorrow!)

None of this would be possible without this little helper-puppy who insists that my lap is the best place to sit while I set up the kits for pics.

Another little teaser about some kits- these ones won’t be coming out for a couple more weeks- but I’ve been sourcing some lovely laces for you all 🙂 And my dad made me these amazing wooden cards for me to put the lace on – thanks dad!! They are so tempting!

In other news, I managed to get myself to the big city this week for some Queen st. fabric shopping with a friend. I can never say no to floor-to-ceiling fabric!

So of course I couldn’t walk away without something beautiful- which was this amazing gold silk brocade for an upcoming corset this fall! (My friend picked out this navy&turquoise for herself!)

Anyone joining me for Corset October this fall in the Bra-A-Week Challenge?

Speaking of the Bra-A-Week Challenge- I’ll be taking it over again! Alas it is the end of the summer and my wonderful summer host – Michelle – has passed the torch back to me- and I am again the host of the Bra-A-Week Challenge. So you will be seeing those Sunday posts up again starting next Sunday!

For this Sunday make sure that you check out the Bra-A-Week Challenge over on her blog!

Otherwise this week I’ve been enjoying:

The #sewphotohop over on Instagram, this was my Day 29 photo for ‘eye level’ – not super sewing-themed but I love it 🙂

The fresh corn on the cob that is finally in season! nomnomnomnomnomnomnom

And pinterest- I’ve been obsessed with these Ziegfeld Follies Girls – and all these gorgeous boudoir style shots from the 1920’s *swoon* I’ve been in a pinning frenzy over them on my Boudoir Board.

And that’s been my week. Have you ever had weeks where you want to just roll over and go back to bed- where nothing seems to be going very well? I hope I got it all out of my system! This week is busy!
Hope you’ve all had a lovely week

Sounds like a full-on week! I totally know how you feel. Week before last I was out everynight, and a bunch of crazy stuff happened – I quit my job, I caught up with my ex, I had to say goodbye to some friends leaving on exchange, I got hit on by a bunch of creeps in bars (ew), and a close friend's 21st birthday, which was massive. Some good things, some bad things but just the sheer volume of things was too much! Took me pretty much all of last week to recover.

On a brighter note, I am looking forward to seeing you in the challenge again! I have a submission for this week's already which I am super excited about 🙂 also I am so down for corset October!! There's a cool assignment in my course which lets me do something creative and it counts towards my grade, and I'm planning a corset! Just researching is getting me super pumped…

Wow it sounds like you had quite the week! It always seems to come all at once! I'm glad that those weeks are behind and great fresh starts for September!! 🙂

I am really looking forward to hosting the Challenge again, I feel like I almost need to force myself to make things for the challenge by hosting, otherwise it's always 'I can do that next week'! I can't wait to see your submissions this fall! I've also been drooling over some corsets on pinterest and some of the corset patterns that Scarlett offers- dreaming of all the corset beauty to come! I know that Karin of Mrs. Weaver's Finest is also in for Corset October, and I feel like fall is the perfect time! It's going to be amazing!

Sometimes we all need some time to wind down and be away from the computer! (I learned that this summer, when I had to spent a week away from my laptop and I thought it would kill me, but… surprise, surprise: I survived! I actually had a great time! :D) So, enjoy the last days of summer without feeling guilty 😉

Just a moment ago I was drooling over the bra kits on your etsy shop: I can't choose between the pretty pink and white and the pretty pink and black! But now I've seen all the gorgeous lace that will be available in a few weeks… and the decision is even harder!
Also, I'm loving all your #sewphotohop pics, but the 1920's boudoir shot is the best ever! That's my favourite era for fashion (and underwear) too!

I'm so glad you're coming back to the bra-a-week challenge again! And the Corset October may be the best excuse for me to try and sew a corset for the first time. I'm so excited! 🙂

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be away from my computer for a week! I think it would be panic after the first 24 hours, then bliss after 48! I'm definitely going to make a point to see the beach again before the summers end!

I'm so happy you like the kits! After I found that fabric and made up my red bra I've never taken it off- it is SO comfortable that I knew I needed to share it! I'm going to be putting up a couple more colours this evening, along with extra sliders and rings that you can buy separately 🙂 And yes- lace in a couple weeks 🙂 I'm so excited!

I am completely loving the 1920's feel! I'm trying to convince my photographer friend to do a photoshoot like that with me!

I'm so happy that you're up for Corset October! I think I might make a special badge just for it! I can't wait to make some pretty things! There are 4 Sunday's in October so I better start planning!

Aw, Erin, I know what that feels like too. I felt like my sewing week last week was a flop, add to that I have friends going through tough spots, family going through tough spots, and family in the hospital. Sigh. Lots of sighing going on around here as I can't do anything to change any of it. So, know this week will be better. (hugs!!!)

I feel like everyone is going through summers-end blues. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone in my short time of woes. I'm sorry to hear that you're family and friends are having a rough go of it right now, that's always tough- I'm really close to my family so I know how much of an impact that has on your life.

So far I've gotten a ton of things done this Monday, things are starting to move and succeed again, and I'm not feeling quite so buried in work. Here's to a good week to come for both of us!
