Bra-A-Week [40]: Harlot Suspender Corset

Hi All!
Here we are at the final week of Corset October! Can you believe it’s already here! And here is my final corset!
And look at that extra lucky pattern matching- that was 100% unintentional- so massive win on this one!
This is made with the beautiful Harlot Suspender corset pattern from Scarlett! Sorry for the low lighting and lack of thigh highs to go with the garter straps- the photos were a little last minute in this crazy week, and I wasn’t quite up to showing off my pale pale thighs in this corset!

I cut this corset out at the same time that I cut out the Angel Underbust from last week, so I didn’t know that the patterns tend to run a little on the lager size, so this pattern is also a little roomy on me, but it does make for a very comfortable wearing corset! And I love the shape of the top of this corset- perfect for making a matching bra!

I really love the way that this corset turned out, and the fabric- which looks so rich and beautiful! It’s amazing how much your fabric can influence the look and feel of your corset! I’m so happy I have some of this left over, I’ll definitely be making another corset with it!

I also like how high this corset comes in the back, it’s super flattering and you don’t have to worry about any spilling over the top when you’re lacing it tight!

I did have to watch my garter straps around Karin’s lovely puppy Inkblot – he thought they were a lovely little dangly piece for him to play with! Here I am hiding them from him! What a sweetheart!
Overall I am so happy with this corsetI can’t wait to put together a beautiful outfit for it!
And don’t forget Scarlett is offering a deal too all of my lovely readers!
If you use the code ERINOCT you can get 30% OFF her patterns and her course!! Thanks Scarlett!!

And now on to all of your beautiful makes this week!
———————————————————–
First we have this very striking Halloween corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

Karin made her ‘Gentleman Skull Corset’ for her lovely step-daughter to wear this Halloween! How cool is that!!  <3 <3

She made it using this piece of fabric and some strategic pattern placement,  with both of the full sized skeletons being placed on the back panels. Halloween being my favourite holiday you can imagine how in love I am with this corset! Make sure you head over to Karin’s blog to read all about it!

—————————————————————–
Next we have a super sparkly corset from Rachel of Ivy Rose Designs

Remember Rachel’s beautiful bra from last week? Well here is her gorgeous corset to match! And what a lovely set in that sparkly galaxy fabric!

This is a self-drafted pattern, with a solid panel centre front, no busk, and a nice peak in the centre following perfectly with the matching bra! What a lovely silhouette, that will definitely make for a stunning outfit on a fun night out!

——————————————————–
Next we have another gorgeous submission from Sian of Rebel Angel

This is Sian’s first corset, and she used a kit and pattern from Sew Curvy in the beautiful underbust style!

She used a single layer of coutil- and wow- look at the waist-training power of this corset- really gorgeous shape! And an excellent first corset too! Make sure to head over to Sian’s blog to read her post all about the making of this beauty!

—————————————————————-
Next we have a beautiful bra submission from our favourite french man Joël!!

Joël has taken a luxurious summer off biking in the country with his wife in the sunshine 🙂 But now it’s back behind the sewing machine creating beautiful things 🙂

This is a two colour bra made with satin crèpe and a gorgeous lace! Don’t you love the detailing on the straps too! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- your wife is a very lucky woman!

———————————————————-
And last but not least we have another halloween inspired corset from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!

Maddy made this bra using the plunge corset pattern from Scarlett in her Corset Making Express Course, and some heavy weight black cotton lining, with a shinier black fashion exterior.

An then she added the fun bit! She combined her passion of medicine (from her studies) with her sewing passion and added appliqué ribs to her corset! How cool is that! Make sure you head over to Maddy’s blog to read all about her super awesome corset make, and to wish her luck on her upcoming exams!!

Bra-A-Week [39]: The Angel Underbust

Hi All!!
Week 39 of Bra-A-Week!! Can you believe it!! And another week of beautiful corsets for this fine October 🙂
And this week I’m wearing my corsets in a most special place! The Calgary International Burlesque Festival, where I had a booth to show my lovely wears with the fabulous Mrs.Weaver.
What a perfect place to show off my newest corset!!

This corset it the Angel Underbust pattern from Scarlett! Don’t you just love those lines! This is my first corset with hip gores 🙂 And I love it!

Now I must admit that I didn’t make a mock up of this (I know it’s shameful!) and it turned out a little too big, but it’s actually nice to have a corset that I can do all the way up and it’s not too squeezing! Otherwise I love the shaping of this corset- I’ll just make a smaller size next time 🙂 There will be a next time!

I also love the slightly more business feel to this one with the herringbone fabric! I feel like I will get a lot of wear out of this one 🙂 🙂 Thanks Scarlett!
And don’t forget…  If you use the code ERINOCT you can get 30% OFF her patterns and her course!! Thanks Scarlett!!

I’m so happy with my new corset 🙂 🙂
And now on to your lovely submissions this week!
————————————-
First we have this gorgeous corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

Karin showed me this corset in person this week- and WOW! This was her first experiment in pattern matching on corsets with this beautiful crane and floral corset. How stunning is this!

I heard from Karin that the best way to pattern match is with wine, after three glasses of wine, everything lines up! I’ll have to try her technique in the future!

Make sure you head over to Karin’s blog to see this gorgeous corset!

——————————————————–
Next we have two pretty sets from Emma of A Hand Stitched Life:

Emma made these using the Watson from Cloth Habit, and the Jasime Bralette, Grace and Betty panties from Ohhh Lulu.  How gorgeous are these! I love that colour blocking!

Fantastic choice of fabric too- Emma used this mini-sequin fabric along with velvet- how luxurious! Love it! Make sure you head over to Emma’s blog to see her post about these lovelies!

Next we have a very lovely bra from new contributor Karen!

Karen made this using the Marlborough pattern from Orange Lingerie, using apple green silk dupion, lace and hot pink elastics!

What a beautiful colour combination! This is so stunning! It’s also lined with cotton voile, and the back band is hot pink to continue the theme! Love it! Thanks for the submission Karen!

———————————————-
Next we have a dazzling bra from another new contributor Rachel!

Rachel made this bra using the Shelley Pattern from Pin-Up Girls. She used a duoplex inner layer, covered in a stretch sparkle outer layer!

What a fun bra! I love the colours, and it really catches the light! Fantastic! Thanks for the submission Rachel!

————————————–
Next we have a beautiful corset submission from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!

Maddy made this corset using the 1703 corset pattern from the corset making compendium from Scarlett. She made this historical corset for her sister! What a great sister!

This was Maddy’s first corset- and what a fantastic introduction to corset making! And as ever- the economical Maddy- managed to make this corset for $30- an incredible feat on it’s own!

Make sure you head over and read Maddy’s post over on her blog!

And last but not least we have a gorgeous corset submission from Lauriana of Petit Main Sauvage!

Bra-A-Week [38]: Floral Underbust

Hi All!
It’s the second week of Corset October! YAY! And I’ve got another corset for you!

This one is the same pattern as last weeks, the Freedom Corset pattern from Pin-Up Girls in size D graded to C at the waist, but this is the under-bust version.

To make this I used corset twill as a lining and a silky rayon as the outer fashion fabric.

Because you’re not supposed to use lightweight fabrics for the outside of a corset, I used a double sided adhesive interfacing (Wonder Under) to fix it to the lining- which turned out a little heavier than I would have liked, I think in the future I would just keep them as separate layers and use an interfacing on the rayon, then I could also do the ‘stitch and flip’ method of making a case for my boning, rather than sewing bone channels onto my seam allowances, which I’m finding to be a little bulky.

Overall I’m totally obsessed with this corset! I love it!! This fabric is also quite special to me, because it was the last remain scrap of my ‘signature fabric’ that I used for a fashion show in university! It was the perfect use!

And of course it’s Gibby approved! I can’t wait to wear this in Calgary!!

I’m so excited to get working on more corsets!! My next two corsets will be patterns from the lovely Scarlett 🙂

And I have more exciting news! Scarlett most kindly offered a discount code for all of you, my lovely readers!!

If you use the code ERINOCT you can get 30% OFF her patterns and her course!! Thanks Scarlett!!

Now on to your lovely makes from this week!

———————————————————-
First we have a pretty pink bra from David of Bonnet Bleu

David made this using foam cups, a pretty satin fabric and two types of lace, all in this gorgeous pink colour! It made a really dynamic neckline, and I love the simple detail of the bow!

David is a freelance lingerie designer, label: Bonnet BlueFacebook Page

—————————————————————
Next we have a lovely bra from Christie!

Christie made this bra using a beautiful black and red stretch lace over denier and powernet. Love that lace edge!

Christie made this with an internal powerbar for some good lift and a re-draft on the neckline to make it a balconette style! Her favourite so far- and I can see why! Gorgeous!

——————————————————–
Next we have a pretty set from Emma  of A Hand Stitched Life!

Emma made this set using the Cloth Habit Watson Pattern with the matching briefs pattern for the bottoms. How beautiful is this!

Emma made this set using stretch lace, and said it’s one of the most comfortable that she owns- that’s definitely a win!!

If you want to know more about this gorgeous set, make sure to check out Emma’s post over on her blog!

——————————————————–
Next we’re moving in to an October corset from Sofia of Silver Lining Atelier!

Sofia made this corset using the free corset belt pattern from Scarlett, using cotton twill lining, heavy black cotton and upholstery fabric for the exterior- super classy and wearable!

This was Sofia’s first corset – and wow what a hit! I think she’s got the same corset bug that I have too! It looks so pretty and simple over that dress too!

Make sure you head over to Sofia’s blog to read more about her gorgeous corset!

———————————————————————-
Last but not least we have another gorgeous October corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

This is Karin’s ‘Italian Job’ corset- made from beautiful Italian checked fabric, some beautiful ribbon detailing, and a whole lot of time and dedication to matching stripes! And it really paid off- this is quite a stunner!

Karin used the Freedom Corset pattern for this corset, along with some modifications for taste and fit! Absolutely gorgeous!

Make sure you head over to Karin’s blog to read all about the Italian Job!

Bra-A-Week [37]: The first week of Corsets!

Hi All!!

YAY! Corset October is here! And this is my first corset of the month!

This one is made with the Freedom Corset Pattern from Pin-Up Girls, and I made it in a size D, tapering to a C at the waist. I also added 1″ of length to this pattern- because I’m so long waisted!

I love how this turned out! I used a solid colour pinky-peach for the side and back, and the same colour fabric that has a flower print texture on the front for more interest. I also used the textured fabric to bind the top and bottom. Both of these fabrics are heavy-weight drapery fabrics from Fabricland, and underneath they are lined with a heavy weight cotton corset twill.

This corset definitely has some max cinching power! Man is it tight, I don’t know that I’m used to wearing corsets enough to wear it this tight yet- but I could stand it for the pictures!

I feel like I need to find an outfit to go with this corset that is either ruffly panties, or a pouffy skirt so I don’t look so disproportioned! Although I don’t know if that is really possible in a corset.

For the back- I only had black grommets on me, and some twill tape for lacing- which worked out better than I thought! I actually really like it!

Naturally you will get the picture with Gibby- I just can’t resist that furry little face!

And he couldn’t resist my lipstick! Kisses.

I am so thrilled with how this corset turned out! I feel so pretty in it! I’ll have to get used to the feeling of being corseted, and I’ll definitely have to make an outfit to go with this!

Yay for corsets!

And now on to all of your lovely submissions!

———————————————-

First we have this absolutely stunning Corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

This is a corset with a beautiful heritage behind it. Karin made this using the cotton bed sheets that were gifted from her great-grandmother to her parents on their wedding day. How gorgeous! And there is a really touching story that goes along with it over on her post 🙂

Karin made this for an amazing photo shoot that she organized at her Mrs.Weaver’s Finest Parlour, involving some amazing ladies and their undergarments! It sounds like a truly magical day! Don’t forget to check out Karin’s post to read all about it 🙂

————————————————————–
Next we have a very pretty corset from Tracy!

Tracy made this beautiful victorian corset using pink damask, satin binding and her own handmade bobbin lace- isn’t that incredible!

Absolutely stunning! And I’m really loving the shape of this corset- it makes me want a more historical corset! I don’t know if I’ll ever possess enough patience to make my own lace- but wow it’s impressive!
Lovely!

——————————————————————
Next we have an adorable-as-always bra and panty set from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!

Maddy made this bra using the AFI Maya bra pattern- she got to be a tester! And she did a gorgeous job making it up with stretch lace and cut & sew foam!

As per the Maddy tradition, she didn’t just stop at the bra! She made cute panties to go with from the MIX30 pattern. Getting some serious lingerie set envy over here!

Make sure that you head over and check out Maddy’s post about her beautiful set!

—————————————————————
Last but not least we have this beautiful lingerie corset from Lauriana of Petit Main Sauvage!

Lauriana made this beautiful lingerie corset using non stretch lace over net for the centre panels, a strong woven fabric on the sides, powernet for the back, and cut&sew foam covered in lace for the cups. It has both boning and underwires! Wow!

And what a lovely fit too! Absolutely gorgeous! I might have to make one of these in the future- I love it!!

Make sure you head over to Lauriana’s blog to see her post all about it!
