I hope you’re having a lovely start to Fall! (if it’s fall where you are- or a lovely week in general!)
The weather here in South-Eastern Ontario has been blissful- and I’ve taken full advantage of it! To be honest- I’ve been so exhausted between travelling, teaching and running my business on the side- that I had to take a couple mornings out for long walks, to get some fresh air and to enjoy all the wonderful things about early fall!
This is a lovely trail near where I live 🙂 Gibby has definitely been enjoying the extra walks this week!
And he really loved his new experience of apple picking! Or running around like a manic while we picked apples.
He was so tired after he just slept in the car for the whole ride home 🙂
Another fall treat this week was the Corn Bee!!
The Corn Bee is a family tradition that we’ve had since I was very little. Every year we get 15 dozen corn, husk them, blanch them, cut off the kernels and bag it all for the freezer to have all winter long!
Kristie, Grandpa and I husk the corn- sometimes with help from Grandma 🙂
And this year we had a very special little supervisor.
Then mom, dad and Grandma worked their magic in the kitchen and got it all bagged.
Gibby was in charge of keeping the floor clean, and eating any little pieces that might fall.
It’s always so special having family traditions 🙂
In other news from this week…
If you haven’t checked out last weeks Bra-A-Week Challenge- I did a lovely Bra Theory tutorial on converting your long wired bra into a plunge wire bra 🙂
You can check that out here.
I’ve also been spending some extra time in the sewing room- getting ready for Corset October, a month of 4 corsets! I’m already sweating!
I also have another HUGE surprise coming up for October, which I will let you in on very soon:)
How was your week? How was your September? Anything cool coming up for October?
I love hearing what’s going on with you all!
Until the Challenge tomorrow 🙂
I’ve had a busy week- what about you?
It’s been another week with a million little things. I’m feeling like a bit of a hamster on a wheel right now!
One of the first things on my list this week was getting some swimwear kits together for my upcoming Etsy shop, figuring out what all I was going to put in them, how much they weigh, shipping and the rest.
I’m loving all the prints I picked out! And I am so eager to get this Etsy shop up and running! I think I’ll be able to launch it sometime this week! So you an expect a post about that! 🙂 🙂 🙂
A quick question- what do you want in a swimwear kit? What types of prints are you most drawn to? I just can’t help myself with the bright prints!
The next thing I’ve been working on this week is the progress with the tables for my shop!! And I have new additions- firstly my big beautiful cutting table! (I will be properly fixing the mat down to the top as soon as the legs dry!)
It has joined a fleet with my two student tables and another cabinet table that will be a good cutting table for students!
This week has been all about painting the table legs! I picked this nice grey colour! And mom and Gibby helped me get everything painted! It’s so exciting how it’s all coming together! Thanks mom & dad! (and Gibby for the moral support!)
Aside from all this lovely business and studio prep I’ve managed to go out and have lots of fun too!!!
Last Sunday I celebrated my sisters birthday with her! And we got take-out thai and brought Gibby to the waterfront! (we all had a blast!) Happy Birthday Kristie!! <3 <3
I also went and explored Port Hope with a friend- all for studio and signage research of course! (and maybe just a little bit of cookie and latte time)
And we may have stopped to see Magic Mike XXL in the evening, purely for research purposes of course. In case I have to make an exceptionally revealing mens bathing suit for a client. I may have to go and see it again and get a second look though… just to be extra thorough in my research.
And the last cool thing I did this week was some raspberry picking with my mom 🙂 The bushes are overflowing with them! It’s definitely the year of the raspberry!
That was my life this past week, summed up on a Saturday! I think I achieved a good balance of work and fun! Maybe a little emphasis on the fun! But it summer after all!
How was your week? Did you do anything fun?
Also let me know if you’re enjoying these posts. I know I’m a super nosy person and I love to know what people get up to in their day-to-day lives (I watch too many vloggers on youtube..) are you one of those people too?
Hope your weekend is awesome 🙂
A couple weeks ago I did a post about strawberry picking, well now it’s time for blueberries- which I have to say I love picking even more than strawberries. 🙂
The berries are SO GOOD this year!!
They’re jumbo sized! and super sweet and flavourful!
So plentiful that the bushes were completely weighed down with fruit!
Mom and I couldn’t help ourselves, after an amazing morning of picking we managed to pick just over 60 lbs of berries- so berries for all, and some for the freezer to get us through the winter! All in the car waiting to be taken home 🙂
Some of the best picking I can remember! And we pick at the farm that mom has been bringing me to pick since I was 3, Brambleberry farms !!
I can’t wait to go home again so I can do some more picking! I love summer-time!
Do you pick blueberries? What fruit grows near you?
Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!
This post is going to be about one of my absolute favourite early-summer activities: Strawberry Picking!!!
I decided to make this a Wellness Wednesday post because I believe that it contributes greatly to my wellness! What could be more health promoting than picking fresh fruit, out in the sunshine with your mom. Good for the body and good for the soul!
I’ve been strawberry picking for as long as I can remember. Mom would take my sister and I out to the patch and we would wander around, eating berries, getting them all over our face and clothes and maybe add a couple half eaten ones to the bucket.
I soon became a much more efficient picker and I can remember picking my weight in strawberries most summers growing up! We like to freeze them and have them in smoothies all year round.
Look at those delicious berries! We are truly blessed with beautiful berries here in southern Ontario 🙂 Mom and I managed to pick 22 quarts between us that morning!
And I’m sure that more than a whole quart went to each of our bellies before the end too!
Strawberries and rhubarb are just the start of my summer fruit picking- I’m looking forward to cherries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, pears, plums and really anything else I can get my hands on! Can you tell I have an obsession?
Do you like picking your own fruit?
Hope your having a wonderful Wednesday!
