Saturday Life [7.11.15]: It’s all coming together!

Saturday Life [7.11.15]: It’s all coming together!

Hi All!

My week has been a week full of inspiration, elbow grease, and seeing my dream studio come together 🙂

I am still overwhelmed by all the support! Here is my dad hanging the door for my fitting room, that is now up and painted!

I can’t wait to show off all the things that he’s made for my studio- the tables, shelves, counter and spooler- he’s a machine!

Mom and I took on the task of all the painting- with a good amount of enthusiasm! Making sure that everything is looking polished and pristine for when the doors open!

Here is my beautiful front counter & shelving unit 🙂 I’ll be doing lots of blog writing and business admin from here 🙂

A little clothes line to show of some of my bikini beauties 🙂

I also had a great chance yesterday to take the night off, invite some close, local friends to a small pre-launch party! It was amazing- and the ideas were flowing, and I felt such an amazing sense of excitement for this space 🙂

There was talk of photo shoots, social media classes, silkscreening classes, events and so much more! It was a coming-together of young, creative and inspired minds all dreaming of the possibilities for an awesome future 🙂

I can’t wait for next Friday and my official Launch!! (Post coming soon about that!)

And I’m so happy to be sitting in my cozy studio, taking a break from painting to write this post, eating a fresh apple, and drinking some of this delicious tea!

I feel like Gibby in this photo- running full speed ahead towards something amazing 🙂 And I’m so happy that you’re all here with me!

Hope your week was amazing, let me know all about it!

Saturday Life [31.10.15]: Farewell Calgary, Hello Emerald Studio!

Saturday Life [31.10.15]: Farewell Calgary, Hello Emerald Studio!

Hi All,
This has been another crazy week of adventure. An adventure that started out in Calgary and ended back home in Ontario.

The last week of my visit with Mrs.Weaver was a wonderful mix of time at conferences, time behind the sewing machine, time with Karin’s beautiful family and time with some tea and chocolate.

And of course these pups 🙂

One day Karin treated me to one of her favourite Australian teas and raw chocolate! mmmmm it was so good, and we sat and planned out some of the patterns that we are working on together! So much coming up 🙂 🙂

My final two days in Calgary were spent helping Karin with her corset making class! It was so much fun! Everyone was absolutely amazing- and the corsets were really stunning! Karin will be doing a post on her class coming up soon! Shout-out to all the lovely ladies I met in the class- I miss you all!

Reflexting over my two weeks in Calgary, it’s been fun, it’s been crazy, it’s been running around from place to place, eating new foods and trying so many new things! This is a photo of me sewing a breast prosthesis together as we ran out the door to a show, never a dull moment!

I’m so happy that I had a chance to share my work with so many lovely people! It was such an amazing two weeks 🙂 spent with one of my favourite people 🙂

Meanwhile, back at home mom & dad have been moving things into my studio 🙂

I’m so excited to get moving on this space!! It’s going to be so amazing! And I can now announce that my grand opening will be on November 13th!! So if there are any of you lovelies in the Belleville Ontario area who would like to come to the launch- I would love to meet you!! I’ll make sure to write a post all about it soon!

Right now, I really wish I could just curl up like Gibby and sleep for three days! But no chance of that for a while! Back to the studio for me! Can’t wait to catch up with you all next Saturday!

So that’s been my week! How about you? anything cool and exciting? ordinary and routine? And plans coming up?

I always love hearing about you 🙂

Saturday Life [19.09.15]: Signs, Spoolers & Studio Updates!

Saturday Life [19.09.15]: Signs, Spoolers & Studio Updates!

Hi All!

What a crazy week I’ve had! I feel like I’m still trying to catch my breath. *deep breath* Let’s jump right in!

This week started off with more teaching. Looking back I don’t think I’ve ever talked so much in my life as I did in those 8 days! It was quite the experience! And wow- so much information and so many lessons! And all of the sudden it was back on the plane waving goodbye!

I feel like I’d have to do a whole year of bra theory posts on here to get through everything!

Speaking of Bra Theory- if you haven’t check out my last weeks Bra-A-Week Challenge- it was all about powerbar theory 🙂 You can check that out over here.

When I landed my dad surprised me with the most amazing gift! A Spooler!!

Dad made this for me using a motor from an old sewing machine! Now I can take all the elastic and channelling I get in boxes and put it on spools! No cranking or effort- just push the foot pedal and it spins! 🙂 🙂 I’m going to have to take a video when I’m spooling one day and show you all! I just adore it! <3 Thanks dad!! 🙂 🙂

It’s so exciting getting everything together for my studio!

Speaking of getting things ready for my studio.. I went to visit my studio yesterday and it’s coming along so well!!

They finished the ceiling, drywalling. And they’ve just got a couple things left to do. Crossing my fingers for a November opening! 🙂

I’m so excited to get into the space and set everything up! And to paint! There really isn’t much painting to be done in the space since it’s lovely exposed brick and dark hard wood floors, but the back wall is drywall to be painted and there is an area to paint around the front entrance. And I was thinking that this would be a lovely colour 🙂 to go with my green and grey theme 🙂 and to match all my online branding 🙂

But for the outside of my studio… this gem was dropped off at my door!! My sign !!

Isn’t it just stunning?! I’m SO in love with my sign <3 <3 Thanks Adam!! I will have this sign for the rest of my life!

It’s definitely on of those moments where I’m pinching myself to see if this is really happening. This whole week has been a ‘pinch me’ week! And I’m very happy to find that it’s not a dream 🙂

So that has been my week! Now I’m off to sew up my bra for the challenge tomorrow! Nothing like leaving it to the day before!

How was your week? Anything big? exciting? small? funny? please share in the comments 🙂 I love hearing about your week!

until tomorrow,

xo erin

Hi All!!!

YAY it’s finally here!!!

AND to celebrate I’m giving away a FREE package of Schmetz Stretch 75/11 Needles with every kit!!

I can’t believe it’s finally all come together!! And I have a beautiful selection of 11 SWIMWEAR KITS!! Some of the prints you might recognize and some are new! But all are hand picked and matched by me with love 🙂 🙂

Right now I have only swimwear kits, later in the day I’m going to add my sliders & rings, later underwires, and next week (*praying for shipments to come in soon!!*) I will finally have bra kits & findings kits!!

I’ve decided to slowly release more products over the coming weeks because I don’t want to swamp myself with a million things all at the start! I’ve also only listed 1 of every item until I can get a handle on my inventory management and better control my listings- but for lots of the prints I’ll have enough for a second or third listing of the kits- so if your favourite disappears don’t worry, there’s a chance I’ll have enough for another!

Here are some of the Swimwear Kits!!

All of my kits have a beautiful printed fabric, and a coordinating solid colour fabric- because that is my FAV way of making swimwear and I feel it looks so professional and gives WAY more style and design options! It’s also all high quality matte-finished swimwear that won’t have a white background when you stretch it!!

I decided to give two options for quantities in the kits for One-Piece Swimsuits and Two-Piece Swimsuits! Both are the same price and have very similar overall amounts of fabric, they are just divided differently to make it easier for suit making!

One-Piece Swimsuit kits have more of the printed swimwear fabric and less of the solid coordinating colour. They also have more lining to cover a full one-piece suit, but less elastic because you don’t need it for waistbands!

Two-Piece Swimsuit Kits have the same amount of printed and solid coordinating fabric so you can mix & match! They have less lining, but more elastic, for waist bands and bikini strings!

The exact amounts of everything are in the listings!!

I did a fair amount of research on patterns and fabric quantities out there to try to make sure that there was enough fabric in the kits for most projects- but of course you can’t accommodate for everything- like super-ruched suits!

Which is why there is a CUSTOM KIT OPTION!! I don’t have a specific listing to make a custom kit- but on any of the kits that you see offered- you just let me know your amounts and I’ll put together whatever you need! 🙂

The other thing you’ll notice is that I have Canadian and United States shipping options pre-entered – but for all other international shipping just send me an email and I’ll calculate a price! It’s too difficult to go through every single country for every kit and figure out all the shipping prices and I don’t want to have a general ‘Everywhere’ price and end up way over charging some people! So just send me an e-mail and I’ll figure out your shipping!

I am SO excited to be starting this shop and sharing my love of swimwear 🙂 🙂

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or anything please let me know!! I want to build an online business that you all love! 🙂

Happy shopping!!

Saturday Life [25.07.15]: Meetings, tutorials & Gibby time

Saturday Life [25.07.15]: Meetings, tutorials & Gibby time

Hi All!

How are you this week?

My week has been all over the place- lots of meetings, lots of delays *sweats*, lots of sewing and lots of family! Thankfully I bought myself a new planner with lots of space!

So firstly you may have noticed that I don’t have my Etsy store up yet.. I’m sorry! There have been a number of delays in figuring out the best shipping methods and trying to reduce shipping costs (Canada Post is astronomical!!) I’ve also decided that for the launch of the store and until I get a handle on it, I’m only going to be shipping to Canada and the USA. I know, I know, I’m sorry- and I promise that it won’t be forever! Only for a little while, until I figure it all out!! But that being said I WILL be launching the Etsy store THIS WEEK- (even if it the only thing I do!) So make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that!

There have also been more delays with my studio space- waiting for city approval for the renovations, and some other renovations that need to be done- it should be mine for the fall..  I will have it one day *sighs*

In other news- the blog – if you didn’t see this week I did a tutorial on sewing swimwear straps two ways!

I’m also going to be posting tomorrow for Bra-A-Week with this little red number I made this past week 🙂 (yay for instagram selfies) You can look forward to this tomorrow.

In other news I’ve had a lovely week with the fam 🙂

Another waterfront day with the sister and the puppy 🙂

Have you ever seen a happier puppy?

Snap-peas from the garden 🙂

So many nice things- I wish summer will never end!

I’ve been really trying to work on my patience and stay relaxed about all the delays with my Etsy shop and my studio space- taking advantage of the extra time it’s given me to have fun days out in the sunshine, and to be exercising (and working on more future plans 😉 ) – but I have to say that it is stressing me out a bit- just nagging in the back of my mind * takes a deep calming zen breath *

How do you handle slow-ups, challenges and set backs?

Have you been enjoying your summer?
