Hi All!
What a crazy week I’ve had! I feel like I’m still trying to catch my breath. *deep breath* Let’s jump right in!
This week started off with more teaching. Looking back I don’t think I’ve ever talked so much in my life as I did in those 8 days! It was quite the experience! And wow- so much information and so many lessons! And all of the sudden it was back on the plane waving goodbye!
I feel like I’d have to do a whole year of bra theory posts on here to get through everything!
Speaking of Bra Theory- if you haven’t check out my last weeks Bra-A-Week Challenge- it was all about powerbar theory 🙂 You can check that out over here.
Dad made this for me using a motor from an old sewing machine! Now I can take all the elastic and channelling I get in boxes and put it on spools! No cranking or effort- just push the foot pedal and it spins! 🙂 🙂 I’m going to have to take a video when I’m spooling one day and show you all! I just adore it! <3 Thanks dad!! 🙂 🙂
It’s so exciting getting everything together for my studio!
Speaking of getting things ready for my studio.. I went to visit my studio yesterday and it’s coming along so well!!
They finished the ceiling, drywalling. And they’ve just got a couple things left to do. Crossing my fingers for a November opening! 🙂
I’m so excited to get into the space and set everything up! And to paint! There really isn’t much painting to be done in the space since it’s lovely exposed brick and dark hard wood floors, but the back wall is drywall to be painted and there is an area to paint around the front entrance. And I was thinking that this would be a lovely colour 🙂 to go with my green and grey theme 🙂 and to match all my online branding 🙂
But for the outside of my studio… this gem was dropped off at my door!! My sign !!
Isn’t it just stunning?! I’m SO in love with my sign <3 <3 Thanks Adam!! I will have this sign for the rest of my life!
It’s definitely on of those moments where I’m pinching myself to see if this is really happening. This whole week has been a ‘pinch me’ week! And I’m very happy to find that it’s not a dream 🙂
So that has been my week! Now I’m off to sew up my bra for the challenge tomorrow! Nothing like leaving it to the day before!
How was your week? Anything big? exciting? small? funny? please share in the comments 🙂 I love hearing about your week!
until tomorrow,
xo erin
Hi All!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a pretty crazy week!
First thing, as always, my week started out with some bras!
This bra in particular, my bra for Bra-A-Week, Week:33 !! My come-back week where I take over as host again 🙂
The exciting thing about this bra, (and all the bras for the month of September) is that I’m focusing on bra theory!! Yay! This bra was all about the impact of vertical wires and the direction of stretch!
Check that out here if you haven’t already 🙂
Now the real behind the scenes for that post was this little puppy wanting to chew on my fingers and play while I tried to get my post out! You can blame him for any delays!
Then after considerable stress, planning, packing, and a little bit of last minute moving help for my friend, I made the drive up to Toronto, to stay over and head out bright and early for the beautiful state of Connecticut and private lessons with a friend/student of mine! SO COOL!!
Landing 🙂
And then we got right down to business! There’s nothing like having someone who enjoys bra talk as much as you and who is super eager to learn. And I have to say that we’ve been hold up in this sewing room for almost 10 hours a day! just working on bra theory, pattern drafting and so much more!
This has a little sneak peak for what you’re going to see in the Bra-A-Week Challenge tomorrow morning 🙂
SO much teaching and learning! So much boob talk! I have to say that we’ve stayed so focused, that I’ve hardly taken pictures or posted on Instagram- it’s been a total bra-making getaway!
Fuelled of course by only the best selection of energizing snacks! And maybe a glass of wine here and there! 😉
I have truly been having such an amazing week, and I’m almost surprising myself with how much boob-knowledge I have rolling around between my ears! I should write a book!
I’ve also had the pleasure to meet this little cloud 🙂 Who is too quick and impassion for a photo, along with her little brother who managed to scoot out before I clicked the button! they are SO CUTE lol, my Gibby is going to be quite jealous when he smells these puppies on my clothes when I get home!
Hi All!
This week has been CRAZY!! and I have SO much to tell you all! I have: 1. that exciting news I mentioned a while back!, 2. Updates from the Etsy shop, 3. What’s coming up this fall for the Bra-A-Week Challenge and 4. Some family fun 🙂
First I’m going to start off with my exciting news!
I have been given the most amazing opportunity to travel to Connecticut to teach private bra-making classes! YAY! I’m heading out early next week and I’ll be gone for the week! I’m teaching a lovely lady that I know who is looking into designing a RTW collection, and needs some assistance on designing the patterns, figuring out fabrics, and understanding all the fundamental elements of bra-draft & design that will help make her bras exactly what she wants!
What this means on the blog is: for the next two Bra-A-Week Challenges, I’ll share with you two of the tester bras that I’ve made for the private lessons that show more about the impacts of direction of stretch, the amount of stretch and the impacts of different design elements! (YAY for bra theory!)
I will also be leaving my Etsy store in the very capable hands of my mom 🙂 although I will always be available for questions!
I can not wait for next Saturday Life – (when I’ll still be in Connecticut) and to share my week! 🙂 🙂
And that brings me to The Emerald Studio Etsy Shop!
Wow it’s been absolutely incredible!- if you didn’t know from my previous post, I launched my bra kits this week! And you have been loving them! I am so excited that I’m finally open and getting to share all my favourite bra making supplies with you! And this is only the start!!
This is my shipping department, beside my elastic department! lol
And here is a ready-to-go bra kit with small sized findings! I like to keep them all nice and tidy so they don’t get wrinkled on their journey through the post!
I have been absolutely loving running the Etsy shop so far! and I can’t wait to bring out more products! If there is anything that you know that you LOVE for bra-making and you think I’m missing, please let me know- I would love to grow this business with all of you in mind 🙂
Also a little bit of extra business stuff- I just got my “The Emerald Studio” Sign art digitized and put on my business cards!! I’m obsessed with them! YAY
You might be seeing more of this branding coming up!
Now the next order of business is the Bra-A-Week Challenge!
Lovely wine tasting in Prince Edward County 🙂
Some strolling around the vineyards 🙂
Some family feasting at my grandparents house 🙂
And last but certainly not least, a few hands of bid euchre that went late into the night 🙂 my favourite!
So that was my week! I hope you’ve all had a lovely week- please tell me about it in the comments 🙂
until tomorrow for the Bra-A-Week Challenge!

Hi All!!
I have something extra special and exciting this week! Instead of showing you 1 bra I have 22 bras!!
These are all the bras that I’ve made to do fittings for my bra-making classes- because I’m a bra-making instructor! And my first class was this Friday/Saturday!!!
I was so nervous, but it turned out amazing! I had a fantastic class of keeners and they all finished their bras so quick!! IT WAS AMAZING!
Here are all my fitting bras inside my changing screen! For the exclusive fitting experience!
I went back to my hometown to teach at PineRidge Knit & Sew– where I took my first beginner bra class 6 years ago as a novice 17 year old sewist!! I can’t believe I’m back as the teacher!!
Sofia made this bra top with a beautiful fabric of black stretch lace over a translucent- bronze knit! She made it from a self-drafted pattern inspired from a couple different designs! How chic is this?!
If you aren’t completely obsessed with the front- check out the back- LOVE IT! She calls this her ‘Lillian Bra Top’. Don’t forget to check out Sofia’s post about her make on her blog!
Emily made both of these bras using the Marlborough pattern from Orange Lingerie, and fabrics from Grey’s Fabric. How beautiful are these! Great combinations of colour!
She’s loving the shape that the underwires and the power bar gives- and I can see why- these are beauties! Don’t forget to check out Emily’s post about her bra-make on her blog!
Linda made this bra using duoplex and embroidered tulle lace! With a split lower cup and a power bar- lovely shape 🙂 And aren’t those little bows just darling? 🙂
Kerri made this ensemble from a 1968 bra set pattern- with a cute rushed halter top, legging bottoms and sheer overshirt! super super cute- gotta love that fabric too 🙂
David made this bra using stretch black lace over white satin covered push-up cups! It also has detachable straps for a strapless option!
