My Everyday Bra: Chartreuse & Black

Hi All!

Last week in my lingerie wardrobe post, I showed you a new set that I made myself, so -as promised- here is that set in more detail! And don’t worry I’m not finished my style search yet- I just can’t help myself when it comes to bras- I had to take a short break to make one!

This bra is definitely going to make it into my most worn bras- and I partly made it to replace my red bra, that I wore to death. It’s made with the same wicking fabric, and has the same comfort!

I used a bit of this bright chartreuse for the cups and black for the frame with black findings! I love the mix of these colours, it’s so fresh and vibrant!

As for the bra, it was super simple construction, horizontal seam cup, with my Orange Underwires for a great everyday-shape, perfect for hiking the trails or running errands all day!

My other favourite element about this bra are my new ring hooks!! It makes it super simple to convert your bra into a sportier racer-back!  I like to have mine really high up on my back- I feel like it’s the most comfortable for me, and it gives a really great shape to your cups in the front too!

I’m so excited to get these in- I feel like so many of my bras will have these now!

And.. they are up in the shop right now!! You can include them with any of your bra kits, or you can buy them separately in both 3/4″ wide  and in 1/2″ wide !!

And don’t forget that I’m giving away free shipping to one lucky American and one lucky Canadian order for the next two Tuesdays in October!! 🙂

I’m pretty happy about my new bra! I think it’s that perfect style for my everyday- a little sporty, simple and comfortable- and I’m going to be making some more matching undies soon because I LOVE these! I wasn’t quite bold enough to strip down to just underwear and bra in the middle of my hike- but I promise I was wearing these and they are so comfortable! I used my self-drafted bikini bottom pattern 🙂

What is your bra style? Do you like sportier styles? or are you a little more girly?

Do you like to have all different style bras for different days, or do you just wear your favourite all day every day?

I love hearing from you!

I find that I go through phases and although I classify myself as being a sportier girl, I really like girly, lacy underthings. Ultimately, I think that it really comes down to whatever is on top of my bra pile in my dresser. I will wear the same 2-3 bras on rotation (now me-made bras, yippee!) until I need to go hunting for another bra to make an outfit work (if the silhouette or color isn't right) and turn up other bras that I haven't worn for a while. I made a few splurges on nice, RTW bras but I'm terrified enough of damaging them that I don't wear them as often as they deserve (which is a sign that I probably shouldn't have bought them in the first place, live and learn).

I think that is the reality of so many people- and I can say that I definitely have a system somewhat like this for a lot of days- whatever is on the top of the pile, will be comfortable and works under most of your clothing. It's hard to make the time to really think about it a lot and wear matching lovely things everyday. I'm trying to work my way there, but I'm happy that I at least have me-made stuff to choose between too!! 🙂

    Hi Erin!

A perfectly fitting bra, as always 🙂 I love the color combination, and the new hooks are so useful! And your stitching is really neat.

My lingerie is very-very lacy, girly – and now I started to insanely love bodysuits too.
Although I have something to fix – my homewear is disasterous, I tend to wear these old, unflattering hoodies, jogging pants and horrible, horrible stuff o.O which are yes, sporty, but in a hobo way, haha.

I guess this comes from my childhood because at home it was always a -don't care – situation, I wore ridicolous things at home. I can't stand wearing jeans or tight clothes I wear at work. I try to wear at least tunics with leggings or something prettier but also comfy.

      Thanks Réka!

I can totally relate to you on the house wear- I grew up with 'home clothes' where you change into the comfiest old things as soon as you come home. I find that since I work from home, and from my studio (which is like a second home) and where I work alone or with my mom, I am alway battling the urge to just wear my 'nicer' home clothes, aka yoga pants and a more polished new hoodie lol- but I'm trying to force myself out of that with this style search!

This is a lovely set, which almost looks like a very nice bikini. I love the back detail.
I love lace, ribbons, bows, etc and can't wear it on my regular clothes, so on the lingerie it will be! I made a few very nice unpractical sets, so it is back to sewing every day bras for me – but I'm currently very busy at work and the sewing will have to wait for at least 2 weeks 🙁

Oh! This would make for a great bikini too- I'll have to find some chartreuse swimwear fabric!

I find that so many women love the really girly, really lacy look- and I totally understand the appeal it's just so pretty, and fun to sew when you have the time 🙂

This is a beautiful bra! Is there a particular pattern you used to make this bra or did you design the pattern yourself? I haven’t done a wired bra yet but this one makes me want to take the challenge.
