Hi All,
This post is going to be about one of my absolute favourite early-summer activities: Strawberry Picking!!!
I’ve been strawberry picking for as long as I can remember. Mom would take my sister and I out to the patch and we would wander around, eating berries, getting them all over our face and clothes and maybe add a couple half eaten ones to the bucket.
I soon became a much more efficient picker and I can remember picking my weight in strawberries most summers growing up! We like to freeze them and have them in smoothies all year round.
Look at those delicious berries! We are truly blessed with beautiful berries here in southern Ontario 🙂 Mom and I managed to pick 22 quarts between us that morning!
And I’m sure that more than a whole quart went to each of our bellies before the end too!
Strawberries and rhubarb are just the start of my summer fruit picking- I’m looking forward to cherries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, pears, plums and really anything else I can get my hands on! Can you tell I have an obsession?
Do you like picking your own fruit?
Hope your having a wonderful Wednesday!

I water bath can fruit jams and butters all summer and fall. Raspberries are up next.
Oh that sounds delicious! I've never done any canning, always freezing but I would love to try it! So excited for raspberries too!
Yum Yum Yum! Strawberries are by far my favorite 😀 We just picked up 8 quarts, but next year I'll definitely do 16!
They really are the best, although I'm quite the blueberry addict lol. Can never have enough fruit picking!
I remember picking strawberries as a young girl with my parents and my sister…except I could easily EAT my weight in strawberries, so the tally at the end of the day was a bit light on my side! There is nothing like the taste of sun-ripened berries. Glad you could do this activity with your mom!
It's a good thing they don't weigh you before and after picking, or else my bill might be higher too. It was so much fun out picking with mom, can't wait for the blueberries and raspberries soon!
