I cut this corset out at the same time that I cut out the Angel Underbust from last week, so I didn’t know that the patterns tend to run a little on the lager size, so this pattern is also a little roomy on me, but it does make for a very comfortable wearing corset! And I love the shape of the top of this corset- perfect for making a matching bra!
I really love the way that this corset turned out, and the fabric- which looks so rich and beautiful! It’s amazing how much your fabric can influence the look and feel of your corset! I’m so happy I have some of this left over, I’ll definitely be making another corset with it!
I also like how high this corset comes in the back, it’s super flattering and you don’t have to worry about any spilling over the top when you’re lacing it tight!
Karin made her ‘Gentleman Skull Corset’ for her lovely step-daughter to wear this Halloween! How cool is that!! Â <3 <3
She made it using this piece of fabric and some strategic pattern placement, Â with both of the full sized skeletons being placed on the back panels. Halloween being my favourite holiday you can imagine how in love I am with this corset! Make sure you head over to Karin’s blog to read all about it!

Next we have a super sparkly corset from Rachel of Ivy Rose DesignsÂ
Remember Rachel’s beautiful bra from last week? Well here is her gorgeous corset to match! And what a lovely set in that sparkly galaxy fabric!
This is a self-drafted pattern, with a solid panel centre front, no busk, and a nice peak in the centre following perfectly with the matching bra! What a lovely silhouette, that will definitely make for a stunning outfit on a fun night out!

Next we have another gorgeous submission from Sian of Rebel Angel
This is Sian’s first corset, and she used a kit and pattern from Sew Curvy in the beautiful underbust style!
She used a single layer of coutil- and wow- look at the waist-training power of this corset- really gorgeous shape! And an excellent first corset too! Make sure to head over to Sian’s blog to read her post all about the making of this beauty!Â

Next we have a beautiful bra submission from our favourite french man Joël!!
Joël has taken a luxurious summer off biking in the country with his wife in the sunshine 🙂 But now it’s back behind the sewing machine creating beautiful things 🙂
This is a two colour bra made with satin crèpe and a gorgeous lace! Don’t you love the detailing on the straps too! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- your wife is a very lucky woman!

And last but not least we have another halloween inspired corset from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!
Maddy made this bra using the plunge corset pattern from Scarlett in her Corset Making Express Course, and some heavy weight black cotton lining, with a shinier black fashion exterior.
An then she added the fun bit! She combined her passion of medicine (from her studies) with her sewing passion and added appliqué ribs to her corset! How cool is that! Make sure you head over to Maddy’s blog to read all about her super awesome corset make, and to wish her luck on her upcoming exams!!

Gorgeous corset, Erin!! A fabulous ending for Corset October! And that supreme pattern matching in the front… Lucky girl! 😉 Scarlett makes wonderful patterns. In fact, I've just taken advantage of that 30% off her patterns! 😛 But, sadly, it'll have to wait a bit: Maddy and I have the same exam-related problem! (And I admire her productivity, Medicine is such a time-consuming degree!)
The final submissions for Corset October have been really amazing! I love the fabric of the Galaxy corset by Rachel, and the wonderful shape of Sian's underbust (and her pretty dress too!). Maddy's corset is the perfect combination of science and creativity, and… once more, I'm drooling over Karin's make! Her step-daughter is so so lucky! Well, almost as lucky as Joël's wife. Making satin underwear for your wife… That's what being a good husband really means! 😛
Thanks so much for your praise! And I'm so glad that you bought a pattern- I can't wait to see what you make with it after your exams! Good luck with them too! Just think, soon enough you'll be behind your sewing machine again making beautiful things 🙂 — and don't we all wish we were as lucky as Joël's wife!!
What a brilliant finale for Corset October! I love yours this week Erin, the Harlot pattern looks amazing, especially in that brocade – which I look forward to seeing again in a future make 😛 This has been such a fun month, and everyone's creations have been outstanding 🙂
Thanks Maddy!! It really has been an outstanding month! And I've loved seeing your makes 🙂
Ahhhh I can't believe how beautiful all your corsets have come out, they look fabulous, this one is especially gorgeous! And you can make bras and pants to go with 😉 something I'm still shying away from. Dita Von Teese wears a lot of bra/underbust combos for her burlesque, they look gorgeous. So will corsets become a regular in the emerald studio? Surely there'll be an emerald one at some point 😀
Big love xxx
Thanks Scarlett!! I can't wait to make all the bras and pants to go with them- especially this one since it's so suited to a bra! We will need to do a trade one day where I teach you all about bras and you teach me all about corsets- so we can both be Dita Von Teese!
And yes- there must be an emerald corset in the future 🙂 xoxoxo
There are so many beautiful things on this blog I try to sew the same. Right now I think about a corset. But I do not have much time…
Thanks Joël! It was so nice to have your beautiful contribution this week! I can't wait to see your corset when you have time 🙂
Hi Erin, I ordered a new sewing machine and I wait for it. Now we'll have TWO sewing machines and a surger…so me and my wife we can sew together 🙂 and make plenty of beautiful "frou-frou"
Your corset looks well made, the suspenders are an interesting detail and the fabric is pretty. However, it is a pity that both of your corsets from Scarlett's patterns are too large. Looking at her site, I thought the shaping on all the corsets (except the historical ones) looked a bit "shallow", as in not particularly nipped in at the waist. This was one of the reasons why I made a toile even for that very short corset belt. Your last two corsets still seem to confirm that view: If made too large, a corset which would cinch the waist would stick out a bit at chest and hips while pulling in the waist a tiny bit. Your new corset just seems to encase your body. This also makes it impossible for a reader to compare the two corset pattern brands you tried this month.
I also wonder about the sizing on Scarlett's patterns: The corset belt sizing was made on waist measurement only but that was because of the design. Where the waist measurement was concerned, that sizing was what you would expect and not likely to lead you to pick a too-large size. Based on your experience, I assume things are different with the other patterns.
Thanks Lauriana! It is a pity that these both turned out too large, in the future I'll invest more time into making a mock-up and testing the fit for me. In general I find that I am longer and a little boxier in the rib cage than your average person (My waist and my under-bust measurement are barely an inch different) so her patterns are designed for a slightly curvier figure than mine, and to be safe I went with my waist measurement when picking a size, knowing that they would be slightly larger in the underbust and hip. I would have tried a smaller size on my second corset, but with my time constraints I had to cut them both out at the same time and hope for the best. In general I think that Scarlett's patterns have very beautiful lines, but I might have to do a few fitting alterations to make them work perfectly with my figure. There is the importance of a mock-up! Something I will do in future when trying any new corset pattern!
I can't believe corset month is over already! You have to do it again…. I bought fabric ….just never quite got there! All the corsets are beautiful, and that brown/copper satin bra is just out of this world!
Inspirational!
I know it went by so fast! I will have to do it again, maybe in February or March 🙂 I can't wait to see what you come up with 🙂
Thank you Linda, i am happy that you like my bra.
Thank also to Erin: i think all the fans of hand made lingerie are going to meet on her fantastic blog !!
I'll try to find a little time to begin a corset for my wife 🙂
Thanks Joël! I'm so happy to have you as part of my bra community! Can't wait to see your next corset!
Well me I’m only 24 years old,and I have to put on the size 70! wich is the largest size you find in Europe! That means I have to wear a coutil corset with 8 large and long suspenders to hold my stockings, plus as for my skirts I have them made by a tailor size 70 aswell all with buttoned straps staight in the front and crossed in the back otherwise they just don’t hold ,I’m not complainiing but I do have to put up with it!
