Hi All,
So I think it’s about time that this happened. An emerald green bra for Emerald Erin. And I have to say, I am SO in love with this set, it might be my favourite thing that I’ve ever made, but I mean that’s a bit of a a tall order – because I have a lot of love for a lot of my sets 🙂 – but I mean this one is emerald green, it’s hard to beat that!
And I won’t make you wait in suspense until the end of the post- yes I have kits!!
But I should also say that they are very limited, I have only a small amount of this gorgeous satin fabric, in both this amazing Emerald Green, and also in Classic Black! And the kit includes everything I used to make this whole set! (although if you would prefer regular elastics to fold over, that can be absolutely arranged!)
But now back to the set!
And I’ll start with this close-up to get into the nitty-gritty!
The bra itself is a vertical seam cup, with a strapless style neckline edge. For some added vintage flare I decided to do some echo stitching in a ‘V’ shape, and line it up with some echo stitching on the bridge. You know how I like to stitch lines in fabric and match them up- it’s a weird [neurotic] love of mine. Although the cup has a foam lining, I did the stitching on the flat fabric, because trying to get satin to lie flat while stitching it to foam was even beyond my patience.
I used the Bliss Wire with this cup, because it’s definitely the best shape for this more strapless style of cup- and I just love the fit on myself. I have to admit, I added a little bit of a boost to the bottom of these cups- I just wanted to feel extra boobalicious in this bra 😉
My favourite element of this bra was actually an afterthought and was my moms idea (thanks mom!). After I tried it on I thought, hmmm, there’s something missing, so we thought about it and mom came up with the idea of the extra straps coming from the centre or the cups. So to go along with that theme I thought about adding the little bows and adding the extra strapping on the bottoms, which I think is quite va-va-voom. Also the panties are the same self-drafted pattern that I used for the Lily of the Valley set, and my Chartreuse & Black bra.
To go with the va-va-voom front, the back of these panties are made with an very light-weight stretch mesh, which I was not quite bold enough to show on myself in the photos lol
As you can see by the fluffy little pouf in the bottom corner, Gibby was at the photo shoot in the studio, and he was loving the tissue paper flowers that mom made 🙂 some were almost bigger than him 🙂 I also have to give all props for this amazing set up to my mom- she is the photo shoot mastermind who sets this up while I was frantically sewing the matching panties and extra strappy details!
Of course, the obligatory Gibby photo- he was being particularly sweet for this shoot, until he started attacking the flowers and shredding them, which was also pretty funny.
So besides my new set, which I love, next week I’m going to come out with my usual, New Years Resolutions post- where I’m going to talk about this year on the blog and what it’s going to look like. The only thing that I can announce is that I will be bringing back the community post!! (YAY!!) where you send me all your lovely makes, and I feature all of you guys and out amazing community- because I miss that SOO much! So if you have some amazing makes that you want to share with everyone, you can start sending them to my bra.a.week@gmail.com email! (please include photos, descriptions & links to your posts!) And, just like before, I’ll be posting these on the last Sunday of every month, but this year I’m actually going to make it happen ha ha.
So I would love to hear what your new years resolutions are looking like this year, and if you have any plans to make some beautiful things- I thought it was good for myself to start this year off on a real bang! And I wanted an excuse to feel a little sexy in this frosty mid-winter, Christmas-time where I feel like I’ve been living in a love-pentagon of: my sewing machine, chocolate, Gibby snuggles, cheese & LOTS of wine <3
How have your holidays been?

First of all: Happy New Year, Erin!! 😀
Well, what can I say, except that… You were absolutely right, I LOVE this set!! The colour is perfect for you, and the satin fabric makes it look so luxurious! No doubt that this is the best lingerie for starting a new year! 😉 Oh, and I can’t help to notice the millimetric perfection of the cup stitching lines matching up with the bridge stitching lines. If that isn’t accuracy, I don’t know what is! (I’m pretty bad at pattern-matching so I always avoid working with plaids and stripes. They give me the shivers!)
And I can’t wait to read the new bra-a-week posts, I always enjoy them! I hope I have more time in the following months so I can contribute to the bra-a-week too. I miss so much sewing lingerie!
So, I wish you a wonderful year to you and your family, with plenty of happiness, love and… Bras!! 😉
Happy New Year Sofía!!
This really was the best way to start my new year 🙂 Although I guess it was a slightly neurotic way to end my year, matching up all those stitching lines- but there’s something about it that I enjoy so much! I’m so happy that I’m bringing the community posts back too- I feel like I’ve been slipping into my own little bubble this last year starting my business and I want to see all the awesome things that everyone is making and get back into talking to everyone all the time! – I’m also SO happy that you’re going to be doing more bra making this year- I can’t wait to see what you make.
Also- I just thought about this!! OMG there is something really cool happening this year I have to message you about it!! oooohhhhhh!! You’ll be getting a message soon!! YAY XOXO
