Hi All!
Can you believe that it’s 2015?! How crazy is that!
This year I have one main resolution- and it is pretty specific:
I want to make one bra every week.
Now, in the hopes of actually achieving this, I have thought this out a little more.
FIRSTLY: I will only be committing to this for the first 3 months January to March.
After which I will decided if I was crazy or if I can keep going with it! Bras will be due on every Saturday and posted every Sunday- starting with January 17th/18th
SECONDLY:Â The bras in these first three months will be for me!
I am so tired of not having many of my own self-made bras! After making myself 4 bras in boobcamp last May, I promptly lost quite a bit of weight- meaning that they don’t fit properly anymore. I’m asked all the time if I made the bra I’m wearing- and I always have to sigh and say *no, not this one* – but NO MORE!!
THIRDLY: I’m not doing it alone!
Friends that I have met through courses at Bra-maker’s have agreed to join me- so you may be seeing projects from my friends from Bra-maker’s. My mom also might join me for some weeks- so you will get to see all their projects too!
Most importantly, I would love if any of you have any bra-making ambitions to join in too! All you have to do is make a bra- send me some pics and a short description on any Saturday and I would love to feature it in my post! (along with any links to your sites of course!) You don’t have to do one every week to join- you can make whatever goal suits you!Â

I’ve already started sketching out and planning my bras in my inspiration book!
I also wanted to say that the challenge is more open than just a simple bra- it could be a bralette, it could be a bathing suit with a bra in it, it could be a body suit!
I’m planning two bathing suit tops since I’m going on a California vacation this February in the middle of the challenge!
So excited for my mermaid bottoms!
Bonus points for creativity, for matching panties, and for anything out of your comfort zone!
I am somewhere between excited and scared for this challenge- and I’m really hoping that some of you join me for this- whether it’s coming back every week to check out my progress- or submitting your own bra-makes!
Yay for 2015!!
xo erin
Great Post!!
I'm so excited about the challenge!!
I can't wait to see your creations, Mom
Thanks mom! I can't wait for you to join one week too!
I look forward to seeing these ideas come to life!
And so many more! Let the creativity begin!
This will be quite fun to see what you come up with…and what inspiration I pick up along the way! Where are you headed in California?
I'm so excited and glad that I can inspire you! I'm headed to San Francisco then down the coast to LA with the fam 🙂
I bought a bra kit during a black Friday sale and really really want to start getting into making bras… so count me in for at least one week!
YAY!! I'm so excited to see your first bra! I love when people start making bras!! 🙂 I can't wait for your submission! 🙂
Fantastic idea! Making myself some bras (okay, replacing everything in my drawer) is on my to-do list for 2015. I haven't made a bra in over ten years, so I bought the Craftsy class, a couple of kits for the first few, and I'm almost ready to start. So I'll definitely be following along!
YAY!! I want to overhaul my bra drawer too! I'm excited for you to watch the Craftsy course too- I'm so proud of all the prep work I put into that course! I'm so excited to see what you come up with!
That's a big challenge! Your bra-sewing skills will be awesome by the end of it and it won't take you very long at all to whip up a bra. I like to sew lingerie in June / July as it is winter here and I tend to lose my sewing mojo for clothing, so if you're still going strong, I will join you then.
That pink lace is so pretty.
Thanks! It is a big challenge but with the support of friends and encouragement- I think it will give me the kick to actually do it! Not to mention the bras and skills I'll have by the end 🙂 Hopefully it will last into the summer and you can join!! If it is really too much after the 3 months I might make it biweekly or monthly- but I think you can expect a lot of bras on this blog for a long time 🙂
I'm in. Sort of. I'm hoping to make 3-4 bras over the next 3 months. I heard about the craftsy course on your blog and saw the bras you made. You inspired me to try making my own. I've been wearing nursing bras for way too long now and I'm excited to (hopefully) have some well fitting bras soon. My first ones will be boring beige but I find beige bras most practical. I'm sure I'll be inspired by you to make more colourful ones as well.
I'm so happy I could inspire you! YAY for new bras! Beige bras are really more practical- but I still can't bring myself to do it when there are so many amazing options- maybe one day! I'm so happy that you're joining me!! 🙂
Oh, what a great resolution! Count me in for a few bra makes too. I've been sewing quite a few bras for my niece, and not many for me, so it's time I focused on my personal bra making. I yearn to go Boob Camp one day, though I'm located in California, so it's a big trip from here — perhaps later this year though 😀
YAY! more bra-makers! I love that bra-making is so personal too! one of the best projects you can do for yourself. I'm excited to see what you make! And please do come to Boobcamp! I love meeting all of you!! 🙂
This is exactly what I was looking for. My new years resolution is to start sewing bras beginning this month of January. I'm super excited!
Perfect timing! Can't wait to see what you make! 🙂 excitement all around!!! 🙂
Oh, wonderful! I can't wait to see what you do!
I'm not to where I can do a bra a week yet, since I've not done my first one! I'm starting a sew-along shortly, so you can count on me for at least one submission. I'll be making a couple of bras for other people as practi, since I'm way outside the pattern size range offered out there, but will hopefully have a pattern sorted for myself by the end of my sew-along so that I can overhaul my drawer too! And matching panties are a must!
Sounds great! who are you doing your sew-along with? Also for sizes- have you tried the Pin-Up Girls patterns- there are 90 sizes from 30AAA to 48H. Can't wait to see what you come up with!! 🙂
I made two bras this week from the class on Craftsy. 🙂 They were just fitting/muslin bras so not so spectacular. I am hoping to make at least a half dozen well made bras over the next few months! Will there be a place to link up or put up pictures? I don't really want to put any on my personal blog. I don't think my friends really want to see my bras! LOL!
That's fantastic! I love hearing that people are watching and using the craftsy class! I'm excited to see everything you make! Right now I have an e-mail I created so that you can send me your pictures, a description, and any links you want included – and that will all go in my Sunday bra posts. But I was also thinking that I might create a pin board on Pinterest for people to post their bra-a-week pics 🙂 But I'll do a post with information on that before the first bra is due! Let me know if you have any more questions/suggestions!
If I can get my fit perfect, I might be brave enough to share a photo for your blog !
YAY!! I'll be hoping for your perfect fit then!
I'm sort of in. I would love to make a bra probably every other week. I think the first couple months I would make bras for myself and then after that for others. I'm excited to see your posts!
YAY! I look forward to seeing your makes!
Wow, what amazing bras you've made! I'm thoroughly impressed! 🙂 Lisa
I know! I look back at this post and think- wow I did it! and I'm still doing it! I don't think I would have hardly made 2 bras for myself in this time if I didn't set this goal! 🙂
Where would one start in regards to patterns? Any recommendations? Or tutorials on drafting?
Hi Misty, the thing about bra making is that it kind of depends- mostly on your size and what type of pattern you're looking for. I think the Watson from Cloth Habit is a great starter bra since it's more of a bralette, but the Marlborough and Boylston are both excellent underwired patterns, and they're from Orange Lingerie.
