Jordy Nursing Bralette | Pattern Hack

Hi All!

I have a super simple tutorial for you today, a hack for turning my Jordy Bralette Pattern in to a nursing bra. You can even use a Jordy you’ve already made and swap out the straps!

To start off you’ll need a couple of extra supplies, mainly the nursing clips. I carry nursing clips in colours matching my elastics, like these lovely lilac ones. You’ll also need 1 meter of strap elastic that matches the width of your nursing clips. I carry 3/4″ (18mm) nursing clips, so for these I recommend getting 3/4″(18mm) straps. You’ll also need the elastic that will be the internal sling for the nursing clips. I used Fold Over Elastic for this version, but you could also use a 3/8″ picot plush elastic too.

This is the most essential part of a nursing bra, the detachable cup, but without the internal sling there is nothing holding the strap in place once you un-clip, so that will be added next.

You can really have fun with this part- you can make criss-crossing visible straps like I did, or you can mirror the edge of the cup underneath to make them hidden under the cup. If you’re using Fold Over Elastic like I am, you can reinforce it with twill tape or clear elastic inside the fold of the elastic to add a bit more structure. I aimed to make them just a bit shorter than the edge of the cup, but you can easily adjust them to the length that is comfortable for you.

And there you go! A nursing bralette, that I would argue is cute enough to keep wearing even if you’re not nursing anymore! I paired it with a matching Wednesday Cheekies, and make the whole set up in this gorgeous Firework lace .

Happy sewing!
