Hi All!
How excited are you for lace this month! I feel like I’ve really gotten away from lace over the last couple months with my love affair with bra tulle, but my love of lace is coming back to me pretty quickly!
To help you get excited for lace month, I’m having a GIVEAWAY!! YAY! And it’s for the bra kit that I used to make this weeks bra, my Red Valentine! I’ll have more information at the bottom of this post, so you can see what I did with this lace kit and dream about what you’ll do with it!
I’m pretty in love with this bra, I love the all-over lace, power bar, lace edge neckline, it’s really very me 🙂 I made this using a non-stretch lace fabric, lined with bra tulle. I used a large findings kit, for the wide straps and thick bottom band elastic for extra support and comfort, and my fav Bliss underwires! (pssst.. I have this new kit up on etsy!)
If you follow me on Instagram @theemeraldstudio you would have seen a teaser for this matching elastic findings! I’m really feeling this red, it just seems so rich and perfect for a Valentine’s bra!
I thought I’d try a new cup seaming on this bra, with a three piece cup, and I LOVE it! I think it’s just so flattering and comfortable. It is fairy similar to the Snow White bra, but the angles are a little different and I think that I like this one a little better.
I love that this lace is really smooth too, and the gold and red just pop!
I love laying my bras out for the photos and imagining the outfit and the jewelry that would go with it I’m imagining this one with a lovely little cocktail dress and gold accessories. 🙂 Do you ever do that?
So now that I have you drooling over this beautiful new lace.. it’s on to the GIVEAWAY!!
Enter to win a one of my new red & gold lace kits!!
The contest is open to everyone and you can choose between a large or small findings kit!
Do you have any ideas for this kit? What will you do with it if you win?
Let me know in the comments!
xo

DONE! That bra is hella pretty!
Thanks Gillian!! 🙂
WOW!!! It's so pretty!!! The red and gold lace is GORGEOUS!! And I love the cup seams so much -Maybe a tutorial about how to do it is coming soon? 😉 The look of this bra is simply stunning, it's definitely on top of my list of favourites. And, of course, it's the perfect bra to wear on Valentine's day!! <3
I've just sign up for your newsletter too, it's a great idea to keep everyone posted! 🙂
Thanks Sofia! I'm loving the cup seaming too- it's so comfortable and flattering- I might have to look into a tutorial on this! So happy you're looking forward to the newsletter 🙂
Wow is right! I want it now, instantly, as fast as possible – I'm tripping over my tongue, even in my thoughts!!! will it be for sale?? Only one person can win…
Congratulations to the person who wins this gorgeous kit.
Thanks Darlene! It's up in the Etsy shop! 🙂 🙂
Absolutely adorable.
Thanks Di 🙂 🙂
This is absolutely stunning! And since red disappears under clothing, it's a basic that's anything but boring beige!!
Thanks Tina! This bra is definitely going to be my go-to for February!
LOL finally noticed that the kit is for sale 🙂 Placed my order 🙂 Would still love to win – who wouldn't want two versions of this stunning bra!?!
I am delighted about the newsletter 🙂 Congratulations Erin 🙂
You really can never have enough bra kits! Once you make one, it's all over – you're addicted!
This is beautiful!!! I'd love to have the kit. I'm getting closer to being back at my non-nursing size and am planning on making myself a new bra wardrobe once I'm there (since I currently only have one in my regular size haha).
Thanks Evie! It would be a perfect kit for a new bra wardrobe 🙂
Beautiful! I can't get over how wonderful that lace is. I'm signed up for the newsletter. 🙂
Thanks Andie! I know you'd make something beautiful with this kit!! 🙂
Stunning! Really just beautiful. I need a few new bras, and I'm thinking a red one is a must!
Michelle
Thanks Michelle! There's something about red lace that's always a classic 🙂
Yay, thanks for the giveaway~ I'd love to see some more hints about technique, theory, and fitting in the newsletter. Gorgeous bra!
Thanks! I'm planning for lots of good stuff in the newsletter 🙂 🙂
This will make a gorgeous Pin-up Girls Shelley Full Band Bra! Pattern is very close to yours. That lace though….so beautiful and reminds me of a Victorian ball gown. Gorgeous!
Thanks Staci! This would make a good Shelley, there are a few differences in the pattern but the overall look isn't too far off! and yes- definitely a Victorian ball gown, I wish I had one to wear over this bra!
I will make a bra as beautiful as this one! Your work is outstanding and I can only hope mine will turn out as well.
Thanks Joy! I'm sure you can make one just this beautiful!!
Love the Lace and the color! If I win, I make a gorgeous bra and matching brief.
Thanks! Red is really so classic 🙂
You've put together a lovely combination -colour in February!! Hooray!! I'm not sure what I would make yet -I'm still new to this bra-making gig.
Thanks! I love this colour for February- very warm and valentines 🙂 And welcome to bra-making! I promise bra sewing is the best sewing!
Beautiful lace. Been wanting to try bra making for ages, just need to pluck up the courage
Thanks Carole! And be brave!! bra making is great and SO worth it!!
Wow Erin, what a spectacular bra!
Thanks Ginny 🙂 🙂 🙂
That is just beautiful. Really stunning. I've signed up! Monica Nugent
Thanks Monica! 🙂
So gorgeous. I have just started to dip my toes into bra sewing, but it is so much fun already!
Thanks Liz! Bra sewing is really the best sewing 🙂
I would make a Shelly bra for sure!
This kit would be great for a shelley!
Completely gorgeous and I have signed up for your Newsletter.
Thanks Sharon!! 🙂
Just gorgeous, as are all your creations! If I win the kit, I would either sew the Bravo 2 (my tried and true bra pattern) or the Sewy Isabell pattern (after a muslin, no WAY would I risk that gorgeous kit until I had the fit down pat!), which is very similar to your lovely red bra.
Thanks! Those sound like great plans too!! 🙂 🙂
I'd love to make a new bra for Valentine's Month. Looking forward to you newsletter
Thanks Donna! Valentine's month is a really great month for bra making – the perfect excuse to make something special for yourself 🙂
a new bra!
🙂
LOVE this! Your bras are always so beautiful. One of these days I will give bra-making another try! I love seeing everything that you make for inspiration. I've signed up for your newsletter – thanks so much for the giveaway!
Thanks Shannon! I'm so happy I could inspire 🙂
Beautiful, would love to win the kit as I'm new to bra making and it would give me everything I need to get started. It's so hard to know what to purchase to make a bra.
Thanks Karen! It can be tough to get started- I always recommend a kit- then you don't have to worry- you know you have everything you need!
This kit is gorgeous! I'm just dipping my foot into bra making and this one is stunning.
Thanks! And I must warn you- first it's the foot that you dip into bra making and next thing you know you're boob-deep!
I'm 2 weeks post breast reduction to help with orthopedic problems caused by severe asymetry and hypertrophy. I'm obviously going to need new bras and since I'm only 2 months away from my 69th birthday, don't you think red lace would be just the thing?
I think red lace is alway the thing! Thanks Joanna!
This is so beautiful, Erin!! Can't wait to start getting your newsletter and getting back to sewing bras for myself! 🙂
Thanks! yay for more bra making!!
This is such a beautiful lace. It reminds me of Indian wedding saris with the opulence. Definitely a bra to be thought of after seeing the lace as the design will be so dependent upon it.
Thanks Faye! I never thought of that inspiration but it definitely fits! 🙂
That is gorgeous! I may have to get a couple of kits, one for me and one for my daughter. So inspirational.
Thanks Kari! There's nothing like a beautiful lace bra 🙂
Pretty…now the big question: is there enough fabric in the kit for 36I ?
Thanks- all of the fabric amounts are listed in the description on Etsy, so you can lay your pattern pieces out and decide if it will be enough- if not I also sell it by the yard, or I can make you up a custom kit with the amount of fabric you need 🙂
Love the side bar! I'm just making my first bra (it's gorgeous so far!) and finding myself short of materials. Because I'm going to make aother one as soon as I'm finished!!! I love your lace- thanks for the giveaway:)
Thanks Amy! I'm so happy to hear you're getting into bra-making! it's the best!
Done! What a beautiful bra and a great giveaway!!
Thanks & good luck!! 🙂 🙂
Very beautiful!
Thanks Renee 🙂
Signed up for newsletter. This kit would make me get off my bum and use my Shelly pattern, which I've had for two years now and not even opened the packet!
Thanks Judie & good luck! But don't wait for this kit- there's a whole world of amazing bra making waiting!!
This kit looks wonderful. I'd probably make a similar bra to your example, but I'm thinking I would put a plain red fabric with it to give it more of a contrast with the lovely lace! YAY! Kathy from Arizona
Thanks Kathy! That's a great idea with the coordinating red fabric- that really makes it pop!
That lace!!! It's a stunning bra (I absolutely love the cup seaming) but the lace is simply breathtaking! Signed up to the newsletter, I'd love to have a chance to make something with that kit! ^_^
Thanks Maddy 🙂 🙂 This lace would look stunning on you!
My favourite bra at the moment (and the style I go for mostly for best fit) is exactly this style you have made… plus mine is red but not so gorgeous as the red and gold one… I'm going to l clone this one. Signed up for your newsletter because bras and togs (swimmers) are what I most desperately need so tips will be helpful…
Thanks! And I can totally see why you love this style! I'll definitely make more of these in the future! The newsletter will be full of goodies 🙂
Wow..beautiful, "a lady in red" is so pretty…
I signed up to the newsletter…
Thanks Marian 🙂 🙂
Beautiful kit and I would certainly make a bra if I win.
Thanks Deirdre 🙂 🙂
Signed up! Fabulous kit. Love the red and gold combination.
Thanks! I'm loving this combo too- I'm a gold girl 🙂
I love the bra! It is absolutely stunning and so classy. I would definitely make something very similar with matching undies. They would make a perfect Valentine's Day set!
Thanks Anya! It is perfect for Valentine's day!
I enjoy seeing your bras, they are very inspiring. I look forward to your newsletter.
Thanks Tina 🙂 Always happy to inspire! 🙂
Your bra is AMAZING!
The lace is soooo beautiful!
I joined the giveaway and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'd love to make myself a bra with that kit!
Thanks 🙂 I'm really loving my new laces 🙂
That bra is simply incredible! I NEED one, preferably this instant! The design lines are particularly nice and oh, so flattering with this lace. I'd love it with matching panties too, of course.
Looking forward to the newsletter!
Thanks Sandra! It's so nice to see everyone so excited about bra-making! it is the best sewing after all! 🙂
I just love this bra! My favourite colour and my favourite cupseaming. Got to try to make a similar bra.
Looking forward to your newsletter!
Thanks! I'm really loving this cup seaming- and I'm a gold girl, anything with gold and I'm hooked! The newsletter is going to be great 🙂
Hi, What a beautiful bra!! If I won the kit, I KNOW I would be playing with the lace for a bit, before cutting into it. Thinking about which pattern to use, if I happen to find this type of lace, and then I wouldn't be able to hide my smile while wearing it. Cheeky, right?? Gosh, it's beautiful. Great job!!
I know!! There's something so nice about wearing beautiful lingerie- you could be wearing sweats on the outside, but still feel like a million bucks! 🙂 🙂
Stunning just stunning. Am wondering which pattern you're using or is it one you've drafted?
Thanks Brenda! This is a self-drafted pattern – one of my favourites I've ever made too!
I'd like to try the 3-piece cup, as I think it would provide more support for larger sizes.
I've seen this style a lot for the larger sizes, so I think it would be a great idea 🙂
The red lace is spectacular. I would make a Marlborough bra, it would be the most glamorous one I own.
oooh, this would make a beautiful Marlborough 🙂 Thanks Meigan!
This is a gorgeous kit. Maybe you could make it or a similar kit available on an annual basis in February. Of course, I'd sew it up 🙂
Thanks Tammy! I do have some other lace kits available right now 🙂 And I'm planning on having lots more, and not just in February!
I would put it in my stock, and take it from there to admire it each time I need motivation in my quest for a perfect bra pattern 🙂
That sounds like a good plan Anna 🙂
I'm speechless. Every time I think I saw it all, you come with another spectacular, beautiful bra. Definitively an Indian wedding sari or Victorian ballgown come to mind. And it is in my favourite colour! I'm planning a red bra for Feb, but it won't be as beautiful as this. Oh, if I can get my hands on some of that lace, I'll be in bra heaven! Can't wait for the first newsletter too.
Thanks Ilna! I do love this colour too! 🙂
so so so so so gorgeous!!!! I want to see your lingerie closet(s)!!!
Thanks Tina 🙂 My lingerie collection is definitely the best part of my closet 🙂
Oh, amazing! My ultimate goal is to get a well-fitting pattern so that I can start dying my own findings kits with matching nursing bra clasps (an untapped market, for anyone who wants a business venture). Looking forward to your newsletter, and your shop updates as maybe a source of non-stretch lace (seems to be harder to find).
Thanks Kathy! Sounds like you have great plans! 🙂
That bra looks fabulous!
Thanks Alessa!
Hello Erin, I'm writing from France and I am a French woman.
I don't remember how I came and discover your site, but it certainly was when I was looking for ideas to make bras!
I'm starting with making bras, and I bought a kit from Bra Making Supply a couple of months ago, but I tried the pattern only today, my sewing machine needed to be fixed.
I really love what you're doing, I wish I'll manage to do such beautiful bras as you do!
About that stunning red and gold lace you used to create this gorgeous bra, I was wondering : do you still have some of this red lace?
My favourite colour for bras is red, and that lace looks so rich, so baroque, I really love that style, and I think it would be a wonderful bra for my full bust!
I'm also looking forwards to your newsletter, I'm going to sign up right now!
Thanks a lot to show the great job you're doing, I think I'll get addicted to making bras pretty soon!
(Please forgive me if I sometimes use the wrong words, I haven't written in English for ages, but since most of lingerie courses are in this language, I will certainly improve!)
Your site is already in my favourites, bye and keep on doing such a great job- I know you will!
Hi Agnes!
Thank you so much for your comment 🙂 🙂 you are so kind!! It's fantastic that you've started bra making! It's so fun and addictive 🙂
I do have some of the red lace left in my Etsy shop! I sold out of the kits with large findings almost instantly but I'll be getting more kits in soon- as soon as I'm back from holiday!!
I can't wait to get out my first newsletter and keep inspiring!! XOXO erin
Your bra is gorgous and the fit amazing!!
What pattern is this? I’m trying to recreate my favorite bra, and this basically is it. It’s gorgeous!
Thanks Christine! This is a self-drafted pattern 🙂
