I don’t know about you, but it’s around this time of year, when the weather starts getting colder, that it makes me think of all the beautiful structured things I could be making, and there are so many gorgeous corsets that are on my dream list! I cannot wait to snuggle up on the couch with a tea and browse through this book!!

And that will be possible very soon!! She is launching the book on September 8th!!

Bra Make [BAW8]: Black Lace Vixen & Giveaway Winner!

Bra Make [BAW8]: Black Lace Vixen & Giveaway Winner!

Hi All!!

Week 8 already!- and here is my second and final make for February! I think lace was the perfect topic, and I’m already dreaming of all the lace bras I’m going to make the rest of the year now that I’m so inspired!

But first, what I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for!
The GIVEAWAY announcement!!
And the winner of this lovely kit (with either large or small findings):

Drumroll please…………………………….

I’m so excited!! I know Maddy will make something truly stunning with this kit! Congratulations Maddy- I will be in touch and this beauty will be on it’s way across the world in no time! 🙂
(*why does random number generator always find the person with the most expensive shipping? lol*)
Now that we have all the excitement about the giveaway over, it’s time to get excited about my make this week!

Since you all got a massive sneak peak of this bra in my tutorial on making a scallop lace band last week. I thought I would give you a little extra eye candy this week with a matching waist cincher, made with the Vixen pattern from Scarlett!!

I made this set using my new Beautiful Black Lace (and lots of it! So much lace edge!!), Black Bra Tulle, Plunge Underwires and a small black regular elastic findings kit (with a 3X3 hook and eye- my fave)!

On the waist cincher I also used some pre-made cotton binding to finish the edges, black channeling with 1/4″ plastic boning and some sturdy black woven wool for a waist tape and to support the grommets in the back!

Now I do technically have a full set with this bra, the waist cincher and the black panties I made to go with my black beauty set, but I’m not quite brave enough to photograph myself in the whole set for you guys, so these two will have to do!

I LOVE how this waist cincher turned out! The bra tulle looks so delicate and light as air! And I should say that it definitely isn’t as strong as coutil- so this is not a real ‘haul in the waist’ kind of corset- but it makes for some very pretty lingerie, especially on a pattern like this with so many shapely panels!

I added a little pop of pink ribbon in the back 🙂 just to mix things up 🙂 I love how you can see the waist tape though the sheer pannels, and this waist cincher is nice and high in the back, it even overlaps my wide bra back! I think that’s a more flattering shape though 🙂

I’m pretty impressed with how this bra came out too! I’m LOVING this darted cup 🙂 I know that they aren’t the best for everyone and all sizes, but I find that on me, and my size- they are so flattering and give a really nice shape! I love the way these large lace scallops turned out, it really emphasizes the plunge of this neckline. I definitely think this is one of the sexiest bras I own, hands down!

I think these two designs worked well to compliment each other as well, with the top line or the waist cincher following the bottom edge of the bra  in that nice ‘V’ shape!

And don’t forget Scarlett most generously offered a 50% discount on this beautiful waist cincher pattern for my lovely readers this February with this coupon code!! YAY!

I’m so happy with how my set turned out! But I’m also SO excited to see everything you’ve made this month!!

Don’t forget to send in all your bra makes for February to:
Hope you’re all having an amazing weekend!
Bra-A-Week [40]: Harlot Suspender Corset

Bra-A-Week [40]: Harlot Suspender Corset

Hi All!
Here we are at the final week of Corset October! Can you believe it’s already here! And here is my final corset!
And look at that extra lucky pattern matching- that was 100% unintentional- so massive win on this one!
This is made with the beautiful Harlot Suspender corset pattern from Scarlett! Sorry for the low lighting and lack of thigh highs to go with the garter straps- the photos were a little last minute in this crazy week, and I wasn’t quite up to showing off my pale pale thighs in this corset!

I cut this corset out at the same time that I cut out the Angel Underbust from last week, so I didn’t know that the patterns tend to run a little on the lager size, so this pattern is also a little roomy on me, but it does make for a very comfortable wearing corset! And I love the shape of the top of this corset- perfect for making a matching bra!

I really love the way that this corset turned out, and the fabric- which looks so rich and beautiful! It’s amazing how much your fabric can influence the look and feel of your corset! I’m so happy I have some of this left over, I’ll definitely be making another corset with it!

I also like how high this corset comes in the back, it’s super flattering and you don’t have to worry about any spilling over the top when you’re lacing it tight!

I did have to watch my garter straps around Karin’s lovely puppy Inkblot – he thought they were a lovely little dangly piece for him to play with! Here I am hiding them from him! What a sweetheart!
Overall I am so happy with this corsetI can’t wait to put together a beautiful outfit for it!
And don’t forget Scarlett is offering a deal too all of my lovely readers!
If you use the code ERINOCT you can get 30% OFF her patterns and her course!! Thanks Scarlett!!
And now on to all of your beautiful makes this week!
First we have this very striking Halloween corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

Karin made her ‘Gentleman Skull Corset’ for her lovely step-daughter to wear this Halloween! How cool is that!!  <3 <3

She made it using this piece of fabric and some strategic pattern placement,  with both of the full sized skeletons being placed on the back panels. Halloween being my favourite holiday you can imagine how in love I am with this corset! Make sure you head over to Karin’s blog to read all about it!

Next we have a super sparkly corset from Rachel of Ivy Rose Designs

Remember Rachel’s beautiful bra from last week? Well here is her gorgeous corset to match! And what a lovely set in that sparkly galaxy fabric!

This is a self-drafted pattern, with a solid panel centre front, no busk, and a nice peak in the centre following perfectly with the matching bra! What a lovely silhouette, that will definitely make for a stunning outfit on a fun night out!

Next we have another gorgeous submission from Sian of Rebel Angel

This is Sian’s first corset, and she used a kit and pattern from Sew Curvy in the beautiful underbust style!

She used a single layer of coutil- and wow- look at the waist-training power of this corset- really gorgeous shape! And an excellent first corset too! Make sure to head over to Sian’s blog to read her post all about the making of this beauty!

Next we have a beautiful bra submission from our favourite french man Joël!!

Joël has taken a luxurious summer off biking in the country with his wife in the sunshine 🙂 But now it’s back behind the sewing machine creating beautiful things 🙂

This is a two colour bra made with satin crèpe and a gorgeous lace! Don’t you love the detailing on the straps too! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- your wife is a very lucky woman!

And last but not least we have another halloween inspired corset from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!

Maddy made this bra using the plunge corset pattern from Scarlett in her Corset Making Express Course, and some heavy weight black cotton lining, with a shinier black fashion exterior.

An then she added the fun bit! She combined her passion of medicine (from her studies) with her sewing passion and added appliqué ribs to her corset! How cool is that! Make sure you head over to Maddy’s blog to read all about her super awesome corset make, and to wish her luck on her upcoming exams!!

What a fantastic finale for Corset October- I really couldn’t have wished for a better corset turn out! You have all made such stunning things! And I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who was bitten with the corset bug! These four definitely won’t be my last!

Bra-A-Week [37]: The first week of Corsets!

Bra-A-Week [37]: The first week of Corsets!

Hi All!!

YAY! Corset October is here! And this is my first corset of the month!

This one is made with the Freedom Corset Pattern from Pin-Up Girls, and I made it in a size D, tapering to a C at the waist. I also added 1″ of length to this pattern- because I’m so long waisted!

I love how this turned out! I used a solid colour pinky-peach for the side and back, and the same colour fabric that has a flower print texture on the front for more interest. I also used the textured fabric to bind the top and bottom. Both of these fabrics are heavy-weight drapery fabrics from Fabricland, and underneath they are lined with a heavy weight cotton corset twill.

This corset definitely has some max cinching power! Man is it tight, I don’t know that I’m used to wearing corsets enough to wear it this tight yet- but I could stand it for the pictures!

I feel like I need to find an outfit to go with this corset that is either ruffly panties, or a pouffy skirt so I don’t look so disproportioned! Although I don’t know if that is really possible in a corset.

For the back- I only had black grommets on me, and some twill tape for lacing- which worked out better than I thought! I actually really like it!

Naturally you will get the picture with Gibby- I just can’t resist that furry little face!

And he couldn’t resist my lipstick! Kisses.

I am so thrilled with how this corset turned out! I feel so pretty in it! I’ll have to get used to the feeling of being corseted, and I’ll definitely have to make an outfit to go with this!

Yay for corsets!

And now on to all of your lovely submissions!

First we have this absolutely stunning Corset from Karin of Mrs.Weaver’s Finest!

This is a corset with a beautiful heritage behind it. Karin made this using the cotton bed sheets that were gifted from her great-grandmother to her parents on their wedding day. How gorgeous! And there is a really touching story that goes along with it over on her post 🙂

Karin made this for an amazing photo shoot that she organized at her Mrs.Weaver’s Finest Parlour, involving some amazing ladies and their undergarments! It sounds like a truly magical day! Don’t forget to check out Karin’s post to read all about it 🙂

Next we have a very pretty corset from Tracy!

Tracy made this beautiful victorian corset using pink damask, satin binding and her own handmade bobbin lace- isn’t that incredible!

Absolutely stunning! And I’m really loving the shape of this corset- it makes me want a more historical corset! I don’t know if I’ll ever possess enough patience to make my own lace- but wow it’s impressive!

Next we have an adorable-as-always bra and panty set from Maddy of Miss Maddy Sews!

Maddy made this bra using the AFI Maya bra pattern- she got to be a tester! And she did a gorgeous job making it up with stretch lace and cut & sew foam!

As per the Maddy tradition, she didn’t just stop at the bra! She made cute panties to go with from the MIX30 pattern. Getting some serious lingerie set envy over here!

Make sure that you head over and check out Maddy’s post about her beautiful set!

Last but not least we have this beautiful lingerie corset from Lauriana of Petit Main Sauvage!

Lauriana made this beautiful lingerie corset using non stretch lace over net for the centre panels, a strong woven fabric on the sides, powernet for the back, and cut&sew foam covered in lace for the cups. It has both boning and underwires! Wow!

And what a lovely fit too! Absolutely gorgeous! I might have to make one of these in the future- I love it!!

Make sure you head over to Lauriana’s blog to see her post all about it!

Wow!! again, you all impress me so much with your gorgeous works of art! And I’m so happy with how Corset Month has started and all the beautiful submissions and plans for corsets! I’m so happy 🙂

Don’t forget to check out the Pinterest board and if you’re on Instagram and posting your lovely makes- don’t forget to add in #braaweek or #corsetoctober  !!

You can go here to grab a challenge button and don’t forget to send your bra for next week to by Friday for the next Sunday post!!

Again I cannot wait to see what the rest of Corset Month brings- but if this week is any indication- it’s going to be the most amazing month!

Hope you have a lovely Sunday!
